On the morning of October 10, Regiment 12, Division 3, Military Region 1 mobilized forces and vehicles to the flooded area at Huu Lung Boarding School, Middle School and High School in Huu Lung commune, Lang Son province. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Si Phuong, Deputy Political Commissar of Regiment 12, said: “Because the water was so deep that it covered the entire first floor of the school, from October 9, the unit sent 100 officers and soldiers to swim through the flooded area to bring necessities to teachers and students. By the morning of October 10, the water showed signs of receding, so the regiment organized forces and vehicles to carry out a general cleaning so that the students could soon stabilize and return to school.” Urgently overcome the consequences of floods so that students can soon stabilize and return to school. Books, documents, and teaching equipment were brought out to the yard to dry in the sun after many days of rain and floods. Young soldiers took advantage of every sunny minute to help teachers clean tables, chairs, and school supplies. The classroom still smells damp, teachers have to scrub every corner of the wall and the blackboard to prepare to welcome students back. Officers and soldiers of Regiment 12 and school teachers cleaned up mud in classrooms after flood waters receded.
Students washed mud off books and desks by themselves after the flood. Phung Thi Ly was extremely happy when she found her provincial-level excellent student certificate buried deep under flood water. After a hard day of cleaning, the teachers and parents' association cooked and brought food to the children. "Exposing letters" - proof of the will to not surrender in the face of natural disasters. Students enthusiastically moved books out with soldiers. Students are optimistic about overcoming difficulties and hope to return to school soon.
