Martial once shone brightly at MU. |
The French striker left MU last summer, joining AEK Athens on a free transfer. His final game for the "Red Devils" was on December 9, 2023, against Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Martial had a promising start in Greece, finishing the 2024/25 season with seven Super League goals in 19 matches. However, he seems to have quickly lost his place at his new club.
According to HLN : “Martial’s decline continues as AEK Athens did not include the French striker in their squad for the Europa Conference League play-off against Anderlecht next Thursday.” In the clash at Lotto Park, AEK Athens decided to put their faith in Luka Jovic – the former Real Madrid and AC Milan striker – instead of Martial.
Ten years ago, Martial joined MU from AS Monaco as one of the world's brightest young talents and had a dream debut, scoring a spectacular solo goal against Liverpool .
Wearing the "Red Devils" shirt, Martial played 317 matches and scored 90 goals. He contributed to the club winning two FA Cups, two League Cups, and one Europa League. Martial's best individual season was 2019/20, when he became the team's top scorer with 23 goals – an achievement that earned him the Player of the Year award as voted by his teammates.
However, recurring injuries have hampered Martial's progress, preventing him from maintaining consistent form and performance. For many Manchester United fans, the French striker's frequent absences and inconsistent form are a disappointment, as they believe a player of Martial's quality should be able to contribute much more.
