Martial once played brilliantly at MU |
The French striker left MU last summer, joining AEK Athens on a free transfer. His last match for the "Red Devils" will be on December 9, 2023, against Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Martial had a bright start in Greece, ending the 2024/25 season with seven Super League goals in 19 games. However, he seemed to have lost his place at his new club early on.
According to HLN : “Martial’s decline continues as AEK Athens have left the French striker out of their squad for Thursday’s Europa Conference League play-off against Anderlecht.” In the clash at Lotto Park, AEK Athens have decided to put their faith in Luka Jovic – a former Real Madrid and AC Milan striker – instead of Martial.
10 years ago, Martial joined MU from AS Monaco as one of the brightest young talents in the world and had a dream debut when he scored a super solo goal against Liverpool.
Martial played 317 games for the Red Devils and scored 90 goals. He helped bring the club two FA Cups, two League Cups and one Europa League. Martial's best individual season was 2019/20, when he became the team's top scorer with 23 goals - an achievement that helped him win the Player of the Year award voted by his teammates.
However, constant injuries have hindered Martial's progress, making it impossible for him to maintain his form and consistency in competition. For many MU fans, the French striker's frequent absence and inconsistent form is a disappointment, because they believe that a player of Martial's quality could have contributed more.
