In Khanh Lam commune, the Youth Union has joined hands to support the construction of 193 houses in the commune, including 98 houses under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; 72 houses under the National Target Program for socio -economic development in ethnic minority areas; and 23 houses for people with meritorious services. In addition to supporting families, the Commune Youth Union also assigned hamlet branch secretaries to actively monitor the construction progress of houses assigned by the Party Committee, ensuring completion on schedule. To date, the commune has completed 168 out of 193 houses.

According to a report by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of U Minh District, a review revealed that 919 houses in the district are included in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. To date, construction has begun on 876 houses, reaching 95.32%, including 707 new constructions and 169 repairs. Currently, 658 out of 876 houses have been completed, inspected, and handed over for use, reaching 75.11%; and 32.745 billion VND out of a total of 57.424 billion VND has been disbursed. This achievement is thanks to the decisive involvement of the entire political system, including significant assistance and support from the district's Youth Union.

Ms. Quach Cam Tu, Deputy Secretary of the District Youth Union, said: “Most grassroots youth unions in communes and towns have established at least one volunteer team with 15-20 members. Besides assisting people in dismantling houses, cleaning up belongings, transporting materials, and laying foundations, these volunteer teams also mobilize social support to provide gifts, helping families have better conditions to complete their houses more quickly. In the future, we will continue to coordinate with relevant departments, organizations, and local militia forces to carry out these activities, working together with the locality to complete the plan to eliminate temporary housing on schedule.”

With the decisive involvement of all sectors and levels, along with the joint efforts of the Youth Union, we believe that the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in U Minh district will be completed on schedule and with guaranteed quality before June 30th.
