Apple adds gaming support mode to Mac.

According to Game Beat , Apple announced several new features for its products as part of the WWDC 2023 event. While the event primarily focused on products and services outside of the video game sector, there were some notable updates for gamers.

Specifically, the company added game optimization capabilities for macOS Sonoma, a conversion toolkit for games coming to Mac, and promises of future games on Vision Pro glasses.

Most notably among the aforementioned updates is the introduction of Game Mode for Macs. This mode is said to provide a smoother gaming experience by prioritizing CPU and GPU resources for the game, resulting in higher frame rates.

Additionally, Game Mode reduces audio latency for AirPods and input latency for Bluetooth controllers, such as DualSense. According to Apple, the mode will work with all games.

Developer Hideo Kojima also announced that Death Stranding Director's Cut will be coming to Mac later this year. In the future, the developer plans to release more of their games on Apple's platform.

Naturally, Apple also revealed that they are working on a game porting toolkit for developers. This will allow developers to see how their games will perform on Macs within just a few days, as well as reduce the time it takes to port game graphics settings to Apple's operating system.
