The Water Resources University team entered the final match of Group B of the 2026 International Youth and Student Football Tournament - THACO Cup with a relaxed mindset. Coach Vu Van Trung's team had already secured a place in the semi-finals one match early, so the match against Svay Rieng University (Cambodia) at 2 PM today, April 1st, was merely a formality.

However, with 9 players who are usually just substitutes, the reigning champions of the TNSV THACO Cup 2026 still convincingly defeated the strongest team in Cambodia with a score of 3-0, thereby securing first place in Group B with a perfect 6 points, scoring 7 goals and conceding only 2.

Even more impressive than the victory itself was the way the Water Resources University completely dominated and defeated one of the strongest contenders for the championship. In the previous match, the "hero" of the Vietnamese team was Bui Xuan Truong with a hat-trick. In this match, Nguyen Ba Hoan was the one who took the credit.

The defender wearing number 4 left a strong mark with 2 goals and 1 assist. Ba Hoan delivered a perfect corner kick for Nguyen Van Bang to head in the opening goal, and then, with his skillful footwork, he created an incredible curved shot on the Nha Trang University pitch. From a very difficult angle, Ba Hoan still managed to unleash a powerful shot, sending the ball on a trajectory that gave goalkeeper Seng Rothana no chance to save. Ba Hoan completed his brilliant performance in the second half with a penalty kick that found the back of the net, sealing a 3-0 victory for the Vietnamese student champions against the powerful Cambodian team.

"This match was an opportunity for the reserve players of the Water Resources University to gain experience and hone their skills. We practiced corner kicks thoroughly, and that's how we scored the opening goal."

Nguyen Ba Hoan may not be the best player, but he will be the creator of the most unique celebration at the 2026 TNSV International Football Tournament - THACO Cup.

After scoring goals to make it 2-0 and 3-0, Ba Hoan treated the audience to some dance moves. The number 4 player from the Water Resources University danced with his teammates in perfect harmony, showcasing the mischievous, unconventional, and innocent spirit of a student.

"For the first celebration, I learned Ronaldinho's dance. I liked that dance; it looked very free-spirited and beautiful, so I imitated it. For the second celebration, I learned Vinicius Jr. It was also a fun dance that my team and I had prepared beforehand," Ba Hoan affirmed.

"Coach Vu Van Trung inspired us, telling us to play our hearts out, without hesitation or fear of any opponent. Just give it your all in every match, showcasing the football spirit of the Water Resources University. No matter who we face in the semi-finals, the Water Resources University will strive to win," the defender wearing jersey number 4 added.

After this match, coach Vu Van Trung will part ways with the Water Resources University team. The 51-year-old coach will return to Hanoi for personal reasons.

The coaching position has been handed over to a fresh face, Truong Minh Duc. The former player of the Water Resources University will be given the reins, after accumulating experience in previous 5-a-side and 7-a-side football tournaments.
