Admire the Long Bien Bridge's "new look" before its official opening to traffic.

The Long Bien Bridge in Hanoi began emergency repairs on March 28th to address deteriorated sections, replace the road surface on both sides, and upgrade several other features along the route.

To facilitate construction, all traffic across the bridge was temporarily suspended for nearly two months. The contractors simultaneously carried out various tasks such as removing the old bridge surface, reinforcing the foundation structure, and laying a new road surface.

After nearly two months of construction, the project is entering its final stages. The contractors are focusing on completing the last remaining items to prepare for the planned reopening on May 27th, serving the transportation needs of the people.

The new, bright, smooth, and uniform concrete surface on both lanes is gradually becoming visible.

Items such as pouring concrete for the bridge deck, constructing drainage ditches, and painting and repairing the railings have now been completed 100%.

Currently, construction units are continuing to complete the final tasks such as treating rust on steel structures and cutting the road surface to prevent cracking, in order to meet the planned opening date.

The railings, bridge abutments, and drainage ditches on the road section have also been repaired and improved simultaneously.

Both ends of the bridge have been barricaded for construction for nearly two months. Due to the narrow construction site and the difficulty in accessing it for large vehicles, the construction unit had to divide into many smaller teams to carry out the work.

Although not officially open to traffic yet, many people have taken the opportunity to walk on the bridge, exercise, and admire its new look after a long period of repairs.

The renovation of Long Bien Bridge is not only aimed at upgrading transportation infrastructure but also serves as preparation for a comprehensive restoration plan of the historic bridge. This is also a key Vietnam-France cooperation project aimed at preserving the cultural and historical value and promoting the iconic status of Long Bien Bridge in the heart of Hanoi.
