Apple has just launched the iPhone Pocket, a fabric pouch and strap accessory for the iPhone. According to AppleInsider , the product was designed by Issey Miyake, the Japanese designer who created the signature turtleneck sweater worn by the late CEO Steve Jobs. |

“Apple and Issey Miyake share a common approach that celebrates sophistication, simplicity, and fun. This pouch is the result of that vision, naturally complementing our products,” Molly Anderson, Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple, shared in the company’s press release. |

The iPhone Pocket has a long, slender design with a pocket in the middle for the iPhone. When placed in the pocket, part of the phone's camera is exposed. Because it uses stretchable fabric, users can pull the pocket open to look at the iPhone screen, check the time, or read notifications without having to remove the device from the pocket. |

Apple says the iPhone Pocket's colors are designed to easily match many different iPhones. Users can still put AirPods or other everyday items in the pocket to carry them everywhere. The product supports attaching to bags, wearing over the shoulder, or on the wrist. |

According to Apple, the idea for the iPhone Pocket came from the concept of "a piece of cloth." Apple's design team and Issey Miyake collaborated to create the iPhone Pocket using a 3D knitting structure. In the textile industry, this technique uses a 3D knitting machine, attaching a thread of fabric to create a finished product by overlapping loops of yarn according to a predetermined design. |

Compared to traditional knitting, 3D knitting doesn't require cutting fabric, avoiding material waste. This means the iPhone Pocket can be created from just one piece of fabric. |

“The design of the iPhone Pocket reflects the connection between the iPhone and the user, while still ensuring consistency and versatility in use – a hallmark of Apple products,” said Yoshiyuki Miyamae, design director of Miyake Design Studio. |

The iPhone Pocket went on sale on November 14th, but only in select countries such as France, mainland China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Some stores in these regions will have staff available to assist customers in matching the color of the pouch with their iPhone. |
