In a report posted on social media platform X, Ming-Chi Kuo stated that Samsung has established a dedicated team within the company to research camera components with the aim of supplying them to Apple.

Specifically, Kuo revealed that Sony's monopoly on supplying ultra-wide CMOS (CIS) image sensors to Apple is about to be broken. Accordingly, starting in 2026, Apple's iPhone models will use the new 48MP 1/2.6-inch CIS sensor manufactured by Samsung.
For many years, Sony has been the exclusive CIS supplier for the iPhone. However, recent developments suggest that Apple is planning to change its camera sensor supplier due to concerns about reliability and the need to integrate new technology into the iPhone's camera system.
If the above information is correct, then according to the production roadmap, Samsung's image sensors will appear in the iPhone 18 series. However, other information related to the iPhone camera has not been disclosed, so it is likely that Sony will continue to be the supplier.
