Apple has temporarily halted development of Vision Pro 2 glasses.

According to The Information, Apple has revised its development plans for the second generation Vision Pro virtual reality headset, or Vision Pro 2.

Apple is planning to split its Vision glasses line into two versions: Pro and standard. The company is reportedly downgrading the priority of Vision Pro 2 development, evidenced by assigning fewer staff to the project.

According to The Information , Apple has also spoken with its component suppliers, stating that the company has decided not to continue developing the Vision Pro 2 and will instead focus on a cheaper MR (mixed reality) headset, reportedly codenamed N109.

Apple's goal is to launch a more affordable Vision headset at a price comparable to the current top-of-the-line iPhone, around $1,600. While this price is significantly lower than the Vision Pro, it's still more expensive than the Meta Quest 3, which sells for just $649 for its top-of-the-line version.

However, the company seems to be struggling to find a way to reduce the cost of this model without sacrificing too many features. This has caused the product's expected launch date to be extended to the end of 2025.

Previously, sources from MacRumors also indicated that the cheaper Vision glasses would still use the same high-end display as the Pro version. The company would cut back on other components such as the camera, smaller speakers, and a simpler strap.
