Bac Lieu stops high-quality classes at primary level due to pressure on students

The Departmentof Education and Training of Bac Lieu informed that the 2025-2026 school year will officially stop implementing the high-quality primary education model. The high-quality secondary school program will continue to be implemented but under a different name.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Bac Lieu officially stopped implementing high-quality primary education.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Bac Lieu, the high-quality primary education program has 3 sets of textbooks, in which the Math subject has inconsistent knowledge, so when applied to teach together, it will be difficult.

Meanwhile, after many years of implementation, students taking the entrance exam for grade 3 (2nd graders going to grade 3 - PV) have to take the grade 3 exam, so they are under pressure. To be selected for the high-quality class, students also have to take a second test to be selected.

Furthermore, in the 2018 general education program, grade 3 has compulsory English and IT subjects and additional experiential activities, life skills, etc., so the time for high-quality study is not much.

This high-quality education model has been implemented in Bac Lieu since the 2012-2013 school year, aiming to discover gifted students and nurture excellent students. Each district and city will select one school to implement it, at the primary level starting from grades 3, 4 and 5.

Previously, the Department of Education and Training of Bac Lieu held a conference to review and evaluate the implementation of tasks in the period 2012 - 2025 and the direction for implementing high-quality primary and secondary education in the school year 2025 - 2026 in the province.

According to the Department of Education and Training, the program has contributed to improving the quality of key education for educational institutions; the program creates a solid foundation for primary school students when they move on to secondary school; helps secondary school students identify specialized subjects suitable for their level and capacity, thereby having the right orientation when moving on to high school, and choosing the right major at college and university in the future.
