Converting rice paddy land to vegetable crops has yielded high economic returns in Canh Thuy ward. |
According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, initial results show that the conversion of crop structure on inefficient rice-growing land has contributed to improving land use efficiency and increasing income for producers, especially high-tech models of vegetable and flower production in greenhouses and net houses, which add hundreds of millions of dong to the value compared to rice cultivation.
In recent times, thanks to the timely guidance of the Provincial People's Committee and the close coordination of the People's Committees of communes and wards and specialized agencies in the province, the conversion of crop structure on inefficient rice-growing land has received the support of the people. Localities have mobilized resources from the people and flexibly integrated production development capital from agricultural programs and projects to implement suitable crop conversion.
However, in some localities, Party committees, authorities, and professional staff are still hesitant, resulting in slow implementation. The awareness of some people remains limited, and the procedures for crop restructuring are not being followed as prescribed. Based on the actual situation, in the coming period, the agricultural sector will continue to review and develop a restructuring plan in compliance with Government Decree 112/2024/ND-CP dated September 11, 2024, contributing to increasing income per unit area of cultivated land.
