The Ninh Hoa - Van Ninh Protective Forest Management Board is responsible for managing 53,406 hectares of forest and forestry land, of which 43,125 hectares are forested. During the peak of the dry season (March to August) this year, the risk of forest fires in the unit's forest area is identified as high. In particular, under the prolonged hot weather conditions of the past few days, 5,267 hectares of natural forest and 343 hectares of planted forest, in key areas concentrated in the communes of Tay Ninh Hoa, Bac Ninh Hoa, Tu Bong, Van Hung, and Van Ninh, are at high risk of fire, with the Cam Xe forest area in Tay Ninh Hoa commune identified as having the highest risk.
In response to this situation, the forest management unit proactively implemented a forest fire prevention and control plan based on the principle of prevention being paramount, starting early, and moving from afar, following the "four on-the-spot" principle (on-the-spot command, on-the-spot forces, on-the-spot equipment, and on-the-spot logistics). The unit intensified its efforts in disseminating information and mobilizing people living and farming near and bordering the forest to sign and comply with regulations and strictly implement forest fire prevention and control measures; deployed 24/7 forest fire prevention and control personnel at forest protection stations and checkpoints within the forest area; and established teams and units to participate in forest fire fighting, with the core being the specialized forest protection force… As a result, small fires were detected and dealt with promptly from their initial stages, preventing them from spreading and causing damage to forest resources.
