Oranges and pomelos are abundant, and prices are high.
At this time, in the province's "fruit capital" (Chũ town and the former Lục Ngạn district), orchards are beginning to harvest. Along National Highway 31, in the sections passing through Phượng Sơn and Chũ wards and Lục Ngạn commune, many stalls selling oranges and pomelos have appeared. Although it's only the beginning of the season, according to the assessment of orchard owners, this year's orange and pomelo harvest is expected to be bountiful. Ms. Nguyễn Thị Luật, from Xẻ Cũ residential area, Chũ ward, shared her joy: "Currently, my family sells 2-4 quintals of green pomelos every day, at a price of 40-45 thousand VND/kg (depending on the quantity purchased by customers), similar to the beginning of last year's season."

According to Ms. Luat, with a total area of about 10 hectares of citrus trees, the family's total yield of oranges, pomelos, and tangerines this season is expected to reach about 300 tons (an increase of about 30 tons compared to 2024), with estimated revenue of 12 billion VND and a profit of billions of VND. To ensure good tree growth and high prices, all of Ms. Luat's fruit trees are cared for according to VietGAP standards, ensuring food safety and hygiene. Thanks to mastering intensive farming techniques and achieving profitable production, from 2024 to the present, Ms. Luat's family has bought land and planted an additional 12 hectares of citrus trees in Tan Tien village, Deo Gia commune; some of this area will be ready for harvest in 2026.
In recent days, the more than 12 hectares of golden-fleshed oranges belonging to Mr. Bui Huu Chinh's family in Dong Quyt village, Nam Duong commune, have begun to be harvested. The selling price is 25,000 VND/kg, an increase of 5,000 VND/kg compared to the beginning of last year's season; traders are coming to buy directly from the orchard. With 12 hectares of oranges, Mr. Chinh is one of the largest orange orchard owners in Nam Duong. He expects his family to harvest over 300 tons of oranges this season. As someone with many years of experience in citrus cultivation, Mr. Chinh shared: "In leap years like this year, orchard owners don't face pressure to sell, so profits will definitely be higher than in other years because sales are spread out throughout the season."
