Bale confirmed his good relationship with Ronaldo. |
The duo played together for five seasons, contributing to a series of La Liga and Champions League titles, but the Spanish media always hinted at simmering tension between the two superstar wingers Bale and Ronaldo.
Sharing with GQ magazine, Bale confirmed that all rumors are baseless: "I get along with everyone, there have never been any big arguments. The media said Ronaldo and I had conflicts, but there have never been any problems between us, no arguments, no clashes, nothing."
Bale joined Real Madrid in 2013 for a record fee, raising many questions about how he would fit in with Ronaldo, who was then central to the club's plans. However, according to the former Wales international, the two always maintained mutual respect despite the fierce competition for a starting position.

Bale's controversial flag. |
After Ronaldo left the Bernabeu in 2018, Bale was expected to become Real's new captain. However, a long-term injury and inconsistent form have prevented him from meeting expectations. The estrangement from the Madrid media has increased after Bale celebrated with the "Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order" flag when Wales qualified for Euro 2020.
Bale believes he is misunderstood: "I only play golf every two or three weeks, on my days off. But people assume I love golf more than football. I've been criticized a lot because of false information."
Looking back on his time at Real, Bale spoke highly of coach Carlo Ancelotti: "He had excellent people management skills, always keeping the dressing room peaceful. That calmness alone is enough to understand why he is one of the best coaches."
Having retired from football, Bale admitted he was looking for a new competition to fill the void left by his playing days. Trying his hand at the piano, he said, was a challenge that left him humble but excited.
