Handing over rare Javan pangolin to conservation center

On August 5, information from the Loc Hung Commune Police, Dong Nai Province said that the unit had just handed over a rare Javan Pangolin (scientific name: Manis javanica) to the Propaganda, Tourism, Rescue and Conservation Center of Bu Gia Map National Park and Forest Protection Department Region 10.

Previously, at around 0:10 a.m. on July 31, while patrolling Hamlet 7, the Commune Police force discovered a Pangolin crawling on a dirt road from a report from the people. Identifying this as a rare and endangered wild animal belonging to Group IB according to Decree 06/2019/ND-CP of the Government , the working group quickly protected the Pangolin and reported to the leaders to coordinate the handover in accordance with regulations.

That same night, Loc Hung Commune Police contacted specialized units to receive and care for the animal. The pangolin weighed 5kg and was about 30cm long.

Loc Hung Commune Police also called on people not to hunt, keep or trade wild animals. When discovering cases of animals being injured, trapped or needing rescue, people should immediately contact the authorities for timely support.
