The 25th Ton Duc Thang Award Ceremony took place at a special time, just after the successful conclusion of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The 14th Congress set breakthrough goals for the new era of development. In this era, the aspiration to build a strong and prosperous Vietnam also placed a demand for innovation and creativity on the shoulders of the working class, making a significant contribution to the country's development.
For Ho Chi Minh City, the period from 2026 to 2030 is expected to bring about a strong transformation, with new development spaces and superior, specific mechanisms and policies, in accordance with Resolution 260 and Resolution 98 of the National Assembly . As the leading city of the country, Ho Chi Minh City has the responsibility to become a center of innovation and entrepreneurship for the region and the entire country.
In this context, outstanding workers and engineers are crucial factors and the driving force behind innovation. The capabilities of today's skilled craftsmen are demonstrated through their ability to self-learn and adapt quickly to changes in science and technology. They are gradually transitioning from simply operating machinery to mastering the application of technology to solve practical problems in factories and workshops. The impressive figure of nearly 204,000 technical improvement initiatives applied during the 2023-2025 period from the "Excellent Worker, Creative Worker" emulation movement in the city, generating over 76,890 billion VND in benefits, is proof of the city's creative power.
From this movement, outstanding workers and engineers have been discovered and honored at the Ton Duc Thang Award. Notably, this year, the Ton Duc Thang Award's reach closely reflects the realities of the times by expanding its scope to include healthcare, education, administration, and high-tech agriculture. Furthermore, the significant increase in the number and quality of applications from female workers, with practical initiatives demonstrating the deeply ingrained spirit of "Ton Duc Thang Innovation" in the workforce. Through this, the award honors individual creative values, creating a springboard for workers to pursue their creative passions, and simultaneously leading emulation movements at the grassroots level.
For the award to continue providing impetus in the future, its innovative spirit needs to be more closely aligned with the requirements of digital transformation and the green economy. This necessitates updating the selection and award criteria to better reflect reality, ensuring the timely identification of "digital gems" in smart factories and modern management. This is the foundation for building a strong Vietnamese working class, both in quantity and quality, contributing to the realization of development goals in the new era.
The aspiration for a strong and prosperous nation will quickly become a reality when every worker is aware of their responsibility and national pride in every aspect of their profession. Today's master craftsmen are the culmination of intelligence, excellent professional skills, and a readiness to embrace great responsibilities.
Ho Chi Minh City is entering the 2026-2030 period with breakthrough development goals. The award, named after the nation's beloved master craftsman, is therefore expected to continue igniting the flame of creative labor among the city's workers and engineers, creating a synergistic force and driving the city to better fulfill its leading role and make a worthy contribution to the prosperity and happiness of the nation.
