Over the years, the Museum has done excellent work in researching, collecting, inventorying, preserving, repairing, and restoring valuable works so that art lovers can personally admire precious collections of ancient, folk, modern, and contemporary art. These precious heritages have contributed to clearly portraying the national cultural identity, creative spirit, soul, and aspirations of Vietnam through each historical period.

To continue contributing to the development of culture, fostering the values of truth, goodness, and beauty, building human character, creating national vitality and identity, and increasing the nation's soft power, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum plays a crucial role in preserving and promoting the nation's fine cultural values in the new era. Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh suggested that the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum should focus on several key tasks.
This involves continuing to promote the collection of valuable new works that reflect contemporary trends, thereby enriching the existing collection. to expand the museum's collection; to prioritize the preservation and promotion of the value of fine art works, bringing art closer to social life, contributing to the transmission of aesthetic values, nurturing the soul, and enhancing the spiritual life of Vietnamese people.
Museums need to promote the application of technology, innovation, and digital transformation in their professional work, especially in exhibiting and promoting the value of fine art works, building databases, digitizing artifacts, and creating smart, friendly, and accessible museums for the public, especially young people. At the same time, museums should strengthen scientific research and train high-quality human resources to meet the development requirements of the new era.

The museum must expand international cooperation with art museums and art centers in the region and around the world, coordinating exhibitions and art exchanges to further promote Vietnamese fine arts to international friends; and learn from and absorb valuable experiences from world museums to develop the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum is organizing a thematic exhibition "New Works in the Collection of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum" (2016 – 2026) at 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Ba Dinh Ward, Hanoi.
