The thunderstorm season has begun in Northern Vietnam.

(PLVN) - According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a new period of thunderstorms will occur in Northern Vietnam around June 21-23. This period will bring moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some localized areas of Northern Vietnam.

The Meteorological and Hydrological Agency forecasts that from the morning of June 21st to the night of June 22nd, the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam will experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain. Rainfall amounts will generally range from 50-120mm, with some areas exceeding 250mm. There is a risk of localized heavy rainfall (>100mm/3h).

Additionally, on June 21st, both day and night, the Northern Delta region and Thanh Hoa province will experience showers and scattered thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy rain with rainfall amounts of 20-40mm, and some areas exceeding 80mm.

On June 21st, both day and night, the southern Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam experienced rain, moderate rain, and scattered thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy rain with rainfall amounts of 20-40mm, and some areas exceeding 80mm.

The northern Central Highlands region will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some areas receiving heavy rain, with rainfall amounts of 10-30mm, and some areas exceeding 60mm. The rain will be concentrated in the afternoon and evening.

From June 23rd, heavy rainfall in the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam is expected to gradually decrease. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

Northeastern Vietnam

Cloudy, with moderate to heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain in some areas; particularly in the plains, there will be rain, showers and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy rain in some areas (rain concentrated in the morning and at night). Southeast to South winds at level 2-3. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Lowest temperature: 24-27 degrees Celsius, in some places below 23 degrees Celsius.

Highest temperatures: 28-31 degrees Celsius, 30-33 degrees Celsius in the Delta region.

Thanh Hoa - Hue

Cloudy, sunny days, with some areas experiencing hot weather; scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night, especially in Thanh Hoa province where there will be showers and scattered thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain. Southwesterly winds at level 2-3. There is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms.
