At the "Celebrating the Party - Celebrating the Spring" meeting of the Central Party Office, General Secretary To Lam reminded every cadre, civil servant, employee, and worker to quickly return to their normal work pace.
At the Government Office , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the immediate implementation of tasks, especially those discussed in the Government Standing Committee meeting on February 22nd.
At the National Assembly, during the National Assembly leadership briefing, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man proposed focusing intensely on nine major tasks, including successfully organizing the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and representatives to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
In national governance, the first year of a term is particularly significant. The pace, discipline, and effectiveness of the opening year often determine the momentum of the entire period. If things fall behind from the start, making up for lost time later will be more difficult and costly. Conversely, if the system operates synchronously and decisively from the beginning, it will be a crucial foundation for achieving the major goals set.
Moreover, 2026 is not just an ordinary starting year. It marks the beginning of the 2026-2030 period with very high development goals, ranging from maintaining a stable environment and promoting rapid and sustainable growth to comprehensively improving people's lives and creating a solid foundation for the 2045 vision.
The year 2026 is also associated with the preparation and organization of the 16th National Assembly elections and People's Council elections at all levels – a major political event directly related to the people's right to self-governance and the functioning of the state apparatus for the next five years. Preparation must be carried out early, systematically, and thoroughly, without any gaps in implementation.
In this context, any delay can lead to a chain reaction of consequences. Each day of delay in disbursing public investment funds can slow down project progress and increase social costs. Each delay in issuing legal documents can cause businesses to wait and miss business opportunities. Each additional step in an administrative procedure can erode trust and increase the burden of compliance. Therefore, "not letting January be a month of leisure" becomes a genuine requirement not only for central agencies but for the entire political system, especially in the first year of a new development phase. Every locality, every agency, every unit, and every official must recognize that "getting down to work immediately" is a mandate for action.
A new year begins with a serious and urgent work ethic, creating a new momentum and setting standards for action for the journey ahead. When every document is processed on time, every decision is issued promptly; when the administrative machinery operates smoothly, without gaps or hesitation, citizens and businesses will feel the consistency and responsibility in governance.
And when trust is built upon those concrete results, it doesn't just remain a positive emotion, but becomes a driving force for development. Trust empowers businesses to invest boldly and expand production; reassures consumers, fostering loyalty and support for policies; and ensures that reform decisions receive widespread support and understanding. Trust also creates room for effective governance – where difficult but necessary decisions can be approached with a spirit of cooperation rather than skepticism. When trust spreads, the system operates more efficiently, social costs decrease, and the impetus for growth is strengthened from within.
A new spring is only truly complete when its beginning is marked by a determination to work diligently and thoroughly for the common good of the country and its people. Therefore, starting work immediately after Tet (Lunar New Year) is a message of responsibility, discipline, and aspiration for development. In this way, the goals set forth in the Resolution of the 14th National Congress will become a reality, contributing to Vietnam's early transformation into a prosperous nation.
