On September 29, in Hanoi , the Vietnam Business Summit was held, chaired by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and organized by the Semiconductor Industry Association of Southeast Asia (SEMI SEA) in collaboration with the National Innovation Center (NIC) and the Information Technology and Communications Industry Agency.
This is an annual event discussing opportunities for cooperation and development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
Speaking at the conference, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said: “Vietnam has the capacity to develop the semiconductor industry with a stable political system and favorable geographical location. The Vietnamese government is very interested in promoting investment cooperation and developing the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. Vietnam has established the National Innovation Center (NIC) and 3 high-tech parks in Ho Chi Minh City, Hoa Lac (Hanoi) and Da Nang, ready to welcome semiconductor investors with high incentives.”
Minister Nguyen Chi Dung expressed his belief that this summit, together with NIC and high-tech zones, will be an important bridge to support and promote the semiconductor industry in Vietnam and Southeast Asia; opening up many opportunities for businesses to promote and exploit the advantages of each side, bringing economic benefits to businesses and to the innovation ecosystem of the semiconductor industry in the region.
“I propose that chip design corporations enter the Vietnamese market and expand their operations here, as well as join us in building a workforce in this field in Vietnam. At the same time, the businesses present today should coordinate with NIC, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, and Vietnamese research institutes to develop human resources for the semiconductor industry,” Minister Nguyen Chi Dung shared.
Sharing the same view, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung said that Vietnam is making great strides in economic development, in which technological innovation through digital transformation is expected to be the main driving force for Vietnam's economic growth in this decade. According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Huy Dung, Vietnam is also ready for a breakthrough in the semiconductor industry.
