In late March, the small house of Mrs. Pham Thi Khoai in La Ma hamlet, Lau Thuong commune (Vo Nhai district) was filled with joy as her children and grandchildren gathered to congratulate her on receiving the prestigious Party badge. Now 89 years old, Mrs. Khoai has had the honor of receiving the Party badge many times, and this time it's the 70-year Party membership badge.

At his advanced age, Mr. Khoai's hair has turned white, his skin is wrinkled, and he has difficulty walking, but his spirit and intellect remain sharp. When we asked him, "Having been loyal to the Party your whole life, what makes you most proud?", Mr. Khoai's eyes lit up with joy: "It is that I have lived my whole life true to the sacred oath I took on the day I joined the Party!"
Ms. Khoai hails from Trung Dung commune, Tien Lu district, Hung Yen province – a land rich in revolutionary traditions and the birthplace of the "Hoang Ngan Women's Guerrilla" movement during the resistance against the French. Early on, she embraced revolutionary ideals, joining the Hoang Ngan women's guerrilla team of the district at the young age of 14-15. She and her family sheltered revolutionary cadres, directly participated in combat and provided support in fighting against enemy raids.
With his active participation in various movements, at the young age of 19, Mr. Khoai had the honor of joining the Party. Recalling the events of that year, only a few people in the entire commune were admitted to the Party. The ceremony was brief but very solemn and meaningful. My comrades and I took the oath with all our hearts and patriotism.
After joining the Party, Mrs. Khoai became even more active in labor, production, and the women's movement in her locality. During the resistance war against the US, she also participated in the civilian labor force on the front lines. For her contributions, she was later awarded the Second Class Resistance Medal by the President of Vietnam .
In 1963, Mrs. Khoai and her family moved to Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen province. There, to integrate into the local community, she actively participated in collective activities and later worked at the Women's Association of Lau Thuong commune. Afterward, Mrs. Khoai held various other positions before retiring.

Returning to civilian life, Mr. Khoai continues to uphold the pioneering and exemplary spirit of a Party member. Comrade Luan Dinh Kim, Secretary of the La Ma hamlet Party branch, said: "Although he is elderly and exempt from Party activities, when he is healthy enough, Mr. Khoai still actively participates and contributes heartfelt, sincere, and frank opinions to build the hamlet."
As a veteran Party member, he propagated and encouraged his descendants and the people to have absolute faith in the leadership of the Party and the State; to live and work in accordance with the Constitution and laws, not to listen to the incitement of evil elements that disrupt security and order, affect people's lives, and to work together to build a new rural area. He is a shining example loved and respected by his family and the people in the village. - Comrade Luan Dinh Kim
Following the example of Mr. Khoai, his children and grandchildren are now diligently studying, working, and making many contributions to their homeland. Three of his eight children have also had the honor of joining the Party.
Mr. Tran Xuan Phuong, son of Mrs. Khoai and currently the Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Lau Thuong commune, shared: "Following in my mother's footsteps to become a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam, I still remember her reminder to sacrifice personal interests, wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people, and contribute to the development of our homeland. We are always proud of the tradition my mother has preserved and is continuing to cultivate this ideal for future generations."
Comrade Lao Van Thang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Lau Thuong commune, said: "Ms. Khoai is currently one of the oldest Party members living in the area. Recently, the commune's Party Committee organized a ceremony to present her with the 70-year Party membership badge. This is not only a recognition of her long years of Party membership, but also an acknowledgment of her dedication, contributions, moral character, and political acumen to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland as well as the development of the locality."
