In Ha Giang, a 5-year-old girl in Viet Quang town, Bac Quang district, was seriously injured after being bitten by a dog while walking on the sidewalk.
At approximately 8:50 PM on March 27th, a young girl was walking alone on the sidewalk when a dog weighing about 15 kg suddenly jumped on her, biting her repeatedly on the face and legs. Nearly a minute later, when bystanders noticed and chased the dog away, it finally released the girl and ran off.
Ms. Trinh Quynh Dung, the girl's mother, said that her daughter was bitten while on her way to a friend's house, about 50 meters away. "I was inside the house when I received the news that my daughter had been bitten by a dog. She had lacerations on her face, hands, shoulders, and a patch of her lip, and many scratches all over her body," Ms. Dung said.
After receiving first aid at the district hospital, the girl was transferred to the National Children's Hospital for treatment. She has now been vaccinated against rabies, is alert, and continues to be monitored by medical staff.

According to the leaders of Viet Quang town's People's Committee on the afternoon of March 28, in addition to the child, the dog also attacked three other people, including two children and one adult.
The dog was subsequently captured by local residents and euthanized. The People's Committee of Viet Quang town issued a document requesting residents not to let their dogs roam freely in public places.
This is not the first time a stray dog has attacked people. In early March in Quang Ninh , an unmuzzled dog entered a school during lunchtime dismissal time and attacked 14 students and teachers at Duc Yen Primary and Secondary School in Duc Yen commune, Dam Ha district. All victims subsequently received rabies vaccinations.
