Jadon Sancho is reportedly open to a free transfer back to Borussia Dortmund as early as summer 2026.

Sancho could return to Dortmund.

According to the Daily Mail , the Manchester United star will leave Old Trafford when his contract expires. Dortmund are serious about reuniting with Sancho for the third time, but the deal can only materialize if the player agrees to a significant reduction in his current salary.

Sancho currently earns £250,000 per week, a figure far beyond the Bundesliga club's ability to pay. This is considered the biggest obstacle in the negotiations, even though Dortmund have proactively contacted the player's representatives.

Sancho still enjoys considerable goodwill from Dortmund after two successful spells there. He scored 50 goals in four seasons before moving to Manchester United for £73 million in 2021. However, his career in England did not live up to expectations.

The 25-year-old struggled to maintain consistent form and also clashed with coach Erik ten Hag, leading to his exclusion from the squad. He returned to Dortmund on loan for the 2023/24 season and helped the team reach the Champions League final.

The following season, Sancho played for Chelsea but only made a limited impact with 5 goals and 10 assists in 42 matches. The London club even agreed to pay £5 million to cancel his £25 million buyout clause.

Currently, Sancho is playing for Aston Villa on loan and will become a free agent in June. With his future uncertain, he is reportedly ready to restart his career, and Dortmund has emerged as an ideal destination, provided he makes a significant sacrifice in terms of income.
