Garnacho was once expected to become a big star at Manchester United. |
Garnacho is a symbol of the faith Manchester United placed in the younger generation. In two consecutive seasons, he played 108 matches – an incredible number for a player under 21, especially considering MU already possessed a host of wingers like Jadon Sancho, Antony, Marcus Rashford, and Amad Diallo.
At Old Trafford, not many young players have been given so many opportunities. But instead of appreciating them, Garnacho chose to leave amidst controversy simply because he wasn't a starter in the Europa League final last season.
In the final against Tottenham, manager Ruben Amorim opted to use Mason Mount as the left winger. Garnacho reacted strongly, publicly expressing his disapproval on social media. A cryptic post, even a perceived threat, stated, "Go to Chelsea, or sit out for 6-12 months." And just like that, Manchester United's confidence crumbled in an instant.
"The Blues" quickly emerged, as is often the case in dreamy transfer market stories. The West London club seized the opportunity and extended a welcoming hand to Garnacho, promising him a new future and opportunities.
But the "green dream" turned out not to be as sweet as imagined. Since the start of the season, he has made almost no contribution. After 6 appearances, the Argentinian player has neither scored nor assisted. With a host of talented young players like Estevao, Marc Guiu, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens shining, Garnacho's position is no longer guaranteed.
Proof of this is Garnacho's absence from Chelsea's 5-1 victory over Ajax in the Champions League qualifying round on October 23rd. Prior to that, the Argentinian midfielder started but only played 45 minutes in Chelsea's 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. For two consecutive matches, Garnacho was practically a surplus player in London.

Garnacho is having a difficult time at Chelsea. |
Football always has room for talent, but it never tolerates impulsiveness. Garnacho forgot that patience is sometimes the most important part of the journey to maturity.
At Old Trafford, Garnacho had everything: trust, adoring fans, and a manager willing to build the team around young players. Instead of learning to wait for his moment, he chose the easier path and left to assert his individuality.
In fact, all great stars have experienced moments of being tested. Cristiano Ronaldo, whom Garnacho idolizes, once sat on the bench and only started 15 Premier League games in his first season. He also endured countless criticisms before rising to legend. Talent takes time to hone, while pride only needs a few minutes to self-destruct.
At 21, Garnacho has his whole career ahead of him. But the question is, does he have the humility to learn from his mistakes? Football is a game of time. Those who know how to wait are the ones who truly mature.
If Garnacho doesn't improve his form soon, he could be swallowed up by the fierce competition at Chelsea. In an environment where at least two stars compete for every position, even a moment of complacency could see him pushed to the sidelines.
At Stamford Bridge, pride won't save anyone. On the contrary, only effort and character will help a young player stand firm among a sea of stars. If he is dropped from Chelsea at the end of the season, it would be a real tragedy for Garnacho.
