It was a typical morning moment at Doi Duong Beach, a beach in Hung Long ward in the heart of Phan Thiet city that any beach-loving tourist visiting the area must see and admire its beauty. I have a friend, Nhat Minh, from Long Khanh (Dong Nai province), who almost regularly comes to Phan Thiet with his family once a month on the last Saturday of the month to swim in the sea. He said: "I really love swimming in the sea. Besides Binh Thuan, even though Dong Nai and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces also have beaches, I choose Phan Thiet. Because the coastal areas near my province have numerous industrial zones built close together, while the beaches near Phan Thiet city don't have any industrial zones, so the air is fresher and the seawater is cleaner." Since visiting Phan Thiet in 2022, I discovered that the sea in Phan Thiet is excellent and has many beautiful beaches like Doi Duong, Da Ong Dia, Rang Beach, Hon Rom... Before, it was a bit far, but now it only takes a little over an hour by highway from Long Khanh to Phan Thiet… For me, Phan Thiet has a unique feature: tourists can swim in the sea while watching fishermen pull in their nets to catch seafood. When I'm tired, I often go to the beach to swim and relieve stress. My wife and children are seafood lovers. We grab the fresh seafood like crabs, shrimp, snails, and squid as soon as they're pulled up in the nets, then cook them on the spot using a mini gas stove – it's so delicious! "Once, my family and I were sitting together eating seafood on the beach when another tourist family saw how appealing it was and asked to 'share' some of our seafood. Unintentionally, the two families became close friends, and now whenever we go to Phan Thiet, we always call each other," Minh confided.
On Saturdays and Sundays, the beaches of Phan Thiet, from Doi Duong to Rang Beach and Hon Rom, are packed with people. Many who know how to swim wade a little further out, while those who can't swim only go into waist-deep water. Some jog along the water's edge, and others enjoy taking pictures of the seascape. Here and there, you can spot tourists sitting afar, gazing at the sea with pensive expressions, as if daydreaming or contemplating life. Out there, the sea continues its relentless waves crashing against the shore, gently caressing the bodies of thousands of tourists, as if to wash away the worries of everyday life, leaving them with better health and spirits…
