Baoquocte.vn. German, French, and Vietnamese artists will immerse themselves in the Red River embankment – a previously neglected and littered area in the heart of Hanoi – to practice their art.
On September 30th, Phuc Tan Forest Park in Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, will host an art tour titled "Transforming Waste into Works of Art: Urban Environmental Solutions in Hanoi Through a Creative Lens".
The art tour is part of the “Community Garden” project, jointly organized by the Goethe-Institut Hanoi, the French Institute in Hanoi, and Think Playgrounds, aiming to promote the sustainable development of public spaces and urban landscapes in Hanoi through the creative application of public art and recycling practices.
The program includes the following main activities: visiting Phuc Tan Forest Park and the efforts of local people to build community spaces, with the support of the local government and the social enterprise Think Playgrounds; and visiting public art installations created as part of the "Community Garden" program: table settings, comic sketches, and recycled artworks made from glass bottles.
In addition, artists and experts from Germany, France, and Vietnam will share their perspectives on using art to raise awareness of local environmental issues.
The program is expected to be attended by the German and French Ambassadors to Vietnam, the Director of the Goethe-Institut Hanoi, and the Director of the French Institute in Hanoi.
German artists Jöran Mandik and Eliza Chojnacka, comic book artists Maxime Péroz and Clément Baloup, and urban planning expert Sylvie Fanchette (France) have accepted the invitation to participate in the program, along with two Vietnamese artists and experts, Tran Luong and Pham Minh Duc.
Here, artists will immerse themselves in the space of the Red River embankment – an area once neglected and littered with trash in the heart of Hanoi – while using artistic practices to tell the story of ecology during the explosive development of the capital city, and the lives of people living on the outskirts of the city.

The program includes diverse art practices and approaches: temporary installations, discussions, comic drawing activities, and more.
These activities will share a common goal: venturing into green spaces and residential areas, utilizing unconventional materials, and ensuring the involvement of local people in the creation process.
| The "Community Garden" project is supported by the Franco-German Cultural Foundation and will be implemented between September and November 2024. |
