Mr. Pham Ngoc Vu, Deputy Director of the Provincial Project Management Board, said that the theater has a capacity of 1,000 seats, as well as professional rooms, teaching rooms, rehearsal rooms, etc., with a total investment of over 215 billion VND from the provincial budget. The total construction floor area of the project is 10,385 m2; fully equipped with electricity, water supply, fire prevention and fighting, and lightning protection systems. This is not only a venue for large-scale political , artistic, and cultural events, but also a center for exhibitions, activities, and important local political events. In particular, the theater is entrusted with the responsibility of preserving, researching, and promoting traditional art forms of the Vietnamese people in general, and An Giang province in particular. Through this, it meets the cultural and spiritual needs of the people, encourages artistic creativity among generations of artists, and promotes the mass art movement.
Following the inauguration ceremony, the theater opened its doors to the public. The grounds were filled with the lively sounds of people visiting and taking photos. Nguyen Khanh Hoang, a resident of Long Xuyen ward and a lover of culture and art, excitedly said: “The theater is magnificent. I hope it will regularly host many cultural and artistic programs to serve the local community.”

Meritorious Artist and director Dang Hoang Linh expressed his joy that An Giang province now has another modernly invested cultural institution: “I believe this place will attract art troupes and artists to perform and exchange ideas. It will also serve as a cultural and artistic center, meeting the needs of the people for cultural and spiritual enjoyment.” Singer Vo Anh Thu emotionally stated: “Today, standing on this magnificent and modern stage to give our all with artistic performances, we artists are very honored and proud. I hope the theater will receive even more love and support from the audience…”
Mr. Nguyen Khanh Hiep, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, stated that, with the assigned responsibilities, the unit is committed to receiving, managing, and effectively utilizing the Provincial Theater; coordinating with art units inside and outside the province to regularly organize diverse performance programs, ranging from traditional to modern, from Southern folk art, Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera), and Don Ca Tai Tu (traditional Southern Vietnamese music) to music and dance programs, symphonies, and contemporary art. In particular, they will coordinate with the tourism industry to organize art performances linked to tours and tourist routes, especially during the Via Ba Chua Xu festival at Sam Mountain. “The cultural sector will promote theaters as open spaces serving the community; places for exchange, learning, training, and nurturing young talents; cultural destinations for students, workers, and farmers, so that culture and art truly become part of life. At the same time, we will mobilize the joint efforts of society and businesses in cultural and artistic activities, ensuring that theaters are always operational and always have quality programs to serve the public,” Mr. Nguyen Khanh Hiep emphasized.
Comrade Ho Van Mung - Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - requested the Department of Culture and Sports to urgently develop a plan to utilize the theater effectively. In addition to provincial events, it could be used to organize cultural and artistic programs and events to serve the cultural needs of the people. |
