Bill Gates reveals how much his children inherited from his $101 billion fortune

According to Forbes , Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates' current net worth is $101.2 billion, and 1% of that is still over $1 billion.

The topic came up when Shamani asserted that many Indian parents often have a "duty" to "save everything for their children" instead of giving money to the less fortunate through "charity work".

During the conversation, Shamani asked Bill what he believes is the “right mindset” for parents when it comes to inheritance. “I think everyone has the right to decide that. In my case, my children are raised andeducated well but will receive less than 1% of the total assets because I decided that it would not be beneficial for them. It’s not a dynasty. I’m not asking them to run Microsoft. I want to give them the opportunity to have their own income and success, to be important and not be overshadowed by the incredible luck that I brought,” the computer programmer replied.

While he believes that those who have made a lot of money in "the tech sector are probably the most aggressive in giving away the majority of their wealth," Bill Gates also noted that "different families have different ways of looking at this."

Shamani then asked his guest if his children ever expressed disappointment that most of his billions of dollars were not transferred to their accounts.

"I don't want my kids to be confused about my support and my love for them," Bill explained. "And so I think explaining from the beginning your philosophy that you're going to treat them all equally and that you're going to give them great opportunities..." Bill Gates added that his children have "seen the success of the foundation" and he hopes "they're very proud" of it.
