On January 25th, at the Hoa Lu International Border Gate (Loc Ninh District, Binh Phuoc Province), the Steering Committee 515 of Binh Phuoc Province held a ceremony to welcome back the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives during various periods of war in Cambodia, which were searched for and collected by Team K72 of the Binh Phuoc Provincial Military Command.
After nearly 80 days of searching for and collecting remains in the two provinces of Kratie and Kampong Thom (Kingdom of Cambodia), 50 officers and soldiers of Team K72 conducted surveys at 26 locations, excavating an area of 24,000 m² with 5,200 trenches, searching over 8 km of trenches, and discovering 9 areas containing the graves of fallen soldiers. As a result, 43 remains of unidentified soldiers were recovered.
43 remains of fallen soldiers have been collected and brought back to the country.
According to Ms. Tran Tuyet Minh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc province and Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 515, since its establishment, Team K72 has searched for and collected 2,844 remains of Vietnamese martyrs and experts who died in various periods of war in Cambodia and brought them back to Vietnam.
Ms. Minh suggested that the Military Command, in coordination with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, and other relevant agencies and organizations, should do a good job of preparing for the solemn memorial and burial ceremony for the fallen soldiers.
