Put the interests and happiness of the people above all else.

Faced with this situation, over the years, the 710 Economic -Defense Brigade has coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to implement many programs and models to support people with seedlings, livestock, technical assistance, and labor to develop their family economies, stabilize their lives, and build increasingly prosperous border regions and ethnic minority areas.

Major General Hoang Van Sy, Commander of the 15th Army Corps, and Lieutenant Colonel Vu Ba Thiet, Head of the 710th Economic-Defense Brigade, chatted with and encouraged a family receiving support from the unit to eliminate temporary housing in 2025.

Ms. Trieu Thi Tam, residing in Krong village, Ia Mor commune, is delighted that her family harvested over 8.5 tons of rice this year. Along with income from her 3-hectare cashew orchard, 1.5 hectares of coffee plantation, and a herd of 35 cows, Ms. Tam's family enjoys a relatively comfortable life.

According to Ms. Tam, the positive changes in her family are thanks to the great support and companionship of the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade. From a poor household with no land for production, no capital, and limited knowledge, she was hired as a worker by the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade, trained in vocational skills, guided in farming and livestock raising; given land for replanting rubber trees, and supported with seeds and labor for rice cultivation. Gradually, her family accumulated enough resources to buy a coffee plantation and raise breeding cows, bringing in hundreds of millions of dong in income each year.

The family of Mr. Ha Van An, residing in Krong village, Ia Mor commune, also received a loan of 3.5 hectares of land for rubber replanting from the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade, along with technical support and labor for rice cultivation. In the 2025 harvest season, his family harvested 7.7 tons of rice, ensuring not only sufficient food for the family for the whole year but also allowing them to sell the surplus to improve their living standards.

Mr. An shared: “Thanks to the support and assistance of the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade, my family and many other families have escaped poverty sustainably and are enjoying increasingly better lives. We are very grateful to the unit; whether performing national defense, security, or economic duties, the soldiers of Uncle Ho's army always put the interests and happiness of the people first.”

Building a strong foundation of popular support.

Through our research, we learned that the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade, formerly the 710 Regiment, was established more than 22 years ago with the task of organizing and implementing the construction project of the Nam Chu Prong economic-defense zone (formerly Chu Prong district); simultaneously strengthening national defense and security in conjunction with socio-economic development in the border area, working with local Party committees and authorities to develop socio-economic clusters, and helping people alleviate poverty. In just over 3 years since its establishment, the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade has supported the reclamation and improvement of 118 hectares of arable land for 180 poor households and assisted 265 households in plowing 478 hectares of land for planting crops; helped 218 households plant 365 hectares of hybrid corn and high-yield cassava, and developed livestock and poultry herds of hundreds of animals.

Lieutenant Colonel Vu Ba Thiet, Commander of the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade, said that from 2023 to the present, the unit has donated nearly 50 breeding cows, worth nearly 1 billion VND, to poor and near-poor households; and lent more than 142 hectares of land for replanting rubber trees to grow rice and other crops, thereby helping hundreds of families have a stable food source and escape poverty sustainably.

Many households had a bountiful rice harvest thanks to the 710 Economic-Defense Brigade lending them land for rubber replanting and providing technical support and labor.

The unit has also mobilized many resources to help people build new rural areas, such as constructing rural roads and irrigation canals; building and equipping two boarding schools with facilities worth 2.8 billion VND, ensuring the nurturing and education of children of workers and people in the area; the "Bright Star of the Village" project, 1.1km long, illuminating the community center and over 70 households in Krong village (Ia Mor commune); and supporting people in demolishing 21 temporary houses with more than 3 billion VND in the "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025" movement…

"The unit's work, in collaboration with the local Party committee and government, has revived a land with a revolutionary tradition but heavily devastated by war. Through this, we not only show gratitude to the people but also build up the potential and strategic posture of national defense and security, especially..." "The people's support is the key to winning the battle," Lieutenant Colonel Vu Ba Thiet shared with satisfaction.
