This news is attracting attention in Vietnamese football circles. It not only affirms the growing position of Vietnamese football in the region but also presents an opportunity to improve the quality of training for young Vietnamese players.
Youth training is given priority.
Over the past 10 years, the youth training system in Vietnam has made remarkable progress. Many youth football training centers have received substantial investment, with the PVF Center ( Hung Yen ) being the most prominent.
Established in late 2008, PVF boasts top-of-the-line facilities in the region and is considered Vietnam's first "European standard" model – from dormitories and recovery rooms to FIFA-standard training pitches. Over the past 17 years, PVF has trained numerous talented players, supplying them to professional clubs nationwide. Many of them have played or are currently playing for various levels of the Vietnamese national team.
The PVF Center has also been recognized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as a 3-star academy – the highest level in the AFC's rating system. Currently, there are three academies in Asia that have achieved this high level: PVF, Aspire Academy (Qatar), and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC Academy (South Korea).
The HAGL - Arsenal JMG Center in Pleiku ( Gia Lai ) is a leading name in the trend of international cooperation. The JMG model is famous for its philosophy of "training from the roots" - players are trained in individual technique, tactical thinking, and creativity from a young age. From here, Vietnam has a "golden generation" such as Cong Phuong, Tuan Anh, Xuan Truong, Van Toan, Van Thanh… - players who have contributed to the success of the national teams in international competitions over the past decade.
The Viettel Center (inheriting the tradition of The Cong) is also operating a large-scale training system, focusing on a satellite network in various localities. Viettel selects players from children's leagues, then brings them to the center for intensive training, combining cultural education, life skills, and military discipline – a model highly regarded for its comprehensiveness.
Furthermore, clubs like Song Lam Nghe An and Hanoi also have a rich source of homegrown players, knowing how to maintain the "nurturing" of young talent to preserve their playing style and contribute quality human resources to their respective clubs.
The unique features of Ngoc Hung Football Center
PVF, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, and Viettel are well-known and reputable football training centers. However, Ngoc Hung Football Center also stands out for its current supply of high-quality young players.
The Ngoc Hung Football Center was established in June 2014, built with the motto of preserving the football identity of Ho Chi Minh City by coach Luu Ngoc Hung - a former player who played for Southern Steel - Saigon Port, Ninh Binh and Binh Duong clubs. At that time, many community football playgrounds for children were popular throughout the provinces and cities of Vietnam, but when the football center of former central defender Luu Ngoc Hung appeared, it immediately attracted attention due to its unique features and professionalism.
Mr. Hung affirmed that he always chooses the path of developing technical skills and building a playing style that is characteristic of Ho Chi Minh City football. The Ngoc Hung Football Center also has a very clear direction, aiming at two criteria: discovering and training professional football players and building character, helping them mature in thinking and learn how to behave in life.
"With passion and enthusiasm, any dream can come true! Ngoc Hung Football Center not only helps fulfill dreams but also contributes to training and elevating young players to a professional level," affirmed Coach Luu Ngoc Hung.
Over 11 years of operation and development, Ngoc Hung Football Center has provided many young talents to nearly 20 V-League, First Division, Second Division, and youth teams. From a few facilities in Ho Chi Minh City, Coach Luu Ngoc Hung's center now has 95 facilities and over 6,000 trainees in 31 provinces and cities. Mr. Hung said: "The center invites coaches who are former players with experience and develops appropriate teaching methods. In advanced classes, young players will be taught the youth training curriculum of the clubs."

Currently, the Ngoc Hung Football Center has nearly 150 coaches, including former Saigon Port players such as Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Le Hoai Thanh, and Dinh Kien Trung, or those who have played for other teams such as Pham Cong Loc (Dong Thap) and Tran Quoc Anh (Tien Giang). "The coaches at the center are dedicated to passing on their experience, so this place is truly a professional playground for young players to learn football and gain competitive experience," Mr. Hung confidently stated.
In order to provide opportunities for talented players who want to become professional footballers, Ngoc Hung Football Center also boldly allows its students to test their skills in national-level tournaments, from U9 to U15, and to interact and learn from the experience of older players who are already playing professionally.
Many young players from the Ngoc Hung Football Center are gradually establishing their positions in professional leagues or national youth teams. Notable among them are defender Pham Nguyen Tuan Anh (Ho Chi Minh City Youth Team) and Nguyen Le Quang Khoi (Ho Chi Minh City Club), who were called up to the Vietnam U17 team in May 2025.
"This is the third year that Ngoc Hung Football Center has been a 'satellite' of The Cong Viettel, and we have just renewed our training contract for three more years, covering the U8 to U21 age groups. In addition, we are also working to establish 'satellite' classes in various provinces with the aim of discovering and training talented players for Vietnamese football," the former player, born in 1982, informed.
Football expert Doan Minh Xuong believes that in addition to applying modern training methods, young players also need to be given opportunities to compete and gain experience regularly in professional leagues in order to fully develop and unlock their inherent potential. Through this, experience and competitive spirit are gradually accumulated, helping young players mature and improve.
