A proud closing ceremony.

“After the closing ceremony, I am no longer Phan Linh Da from the 12th grade Physics class, and neither are my classmates. We will embark on a new path full of ambitions and dreams, but also full of challenges. We leave our beloved Thu Khoa Nghia Specialized High School, carrying with us the knowledge, skills, and humanistic values that our teachers have instilled in us. Wherever we go, whatever we do, let us always remember this school, the place that nurtured our first dreams,” Linh Da expressed at the closing ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year.

To be able to speak at the closing ceremony, Phan Linh Da had to work hard throughout the school year, diligently studying without fail. She won a national-level honorable mention in Literature and was selected for the title of "Outstanding Student of the School." She contributed a significant achievement to the school's remarkable success. "I want to use my achievements to express my most sincere gratitude to my teachers, who have taught us with such dedication," Da shared.

Founded in 1992, the school is named after the renowned scholar Thu Khoa Nghia, who made significant contributions to education and cultural development in the Southwestern region of Vietnam. With the goal of providing a high-quality learning environment for talented students, Thu Khoa Nghia Specialized High School focuses on specialized subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, English, and Informatics). The school also emphasizes the holistic development of students through extracurricular activities, sports, and arts.

Linh Đa (wearing a white ao dai) became the school's honor student.

At the specialized high school in Chau Doc border region, it seems that you encounter outstanding or excellent students everywhere (895 out of 1,235 students). Mr. Nguyen Tri Thanh (Principal of Thu Khoa Nghia Specialized High School) is very proud, as this rate is 7.4% higher than in the 2023-2024 school year. The school has 3 students who excelled at the national level; 20 students who won prizes in the April 30th Olympic Games (1 gold medal, 5 silver medals, 14 bronze medals), 10 more than the previous year; 64 students who excelled in academics at the provincial level (8 first prizes, 25 second prizes, 31 third prizes); 7 projects that won prizes in provincial-level scientific research (1 project won first prize overall and participated in the national competition)... Students from the school also regularly win prizes at competitions and contests organized by the education sector.

“The school has 6 teachers who achieved excellent teaching results at the provincial level; 3 excellent homeroom teachers at the provincial level; and 44 teachers who won awards for innovative improvements and applied science at the provincial level. The school was awarded the title of “Outstanding Collective in Completing Tasks”, received a Certificate of Commendation from the Provincial People's Committee and was awarded the leading flag in the provincial education sector. We are very proud to have excellently completed the assigned tasks, continuously improving the quality of education and training effectiveness in both general and specialized areas, contributing to the success of the education sector,” said Mr. Nguyen Tri Thanh.

According to the school's administration, this achievement comes from many sources. Besides the self-effort of teachers and students, there is also the attention of the local community, the support of philanthropists, parents, and alumni. During the past school year, the school established a Scholarship and Talent Promotion Fund, raising nearly 200 million VND. From this fund, the school purchased 31 health insurance policies and 14 accident insurance policies for students; awarded 48 gifts to poor students during Tet (Lunar New Year); and provided 15,500 lunch meals for students from disadvantaged backgrounds and those living far from school who had to stay overnight. Notably, the school spent over 120 million VND (including cash and gifts) on awards for outstanding and excellent students at the end-of-year ceremony.

The closing ceremony at the specialized school seemed to last longer, as nearly 1,000 teachers and students received awards. Many classes that excelled in academic and training activities were honored. Pride was evident in the eyes of the teachers and parents. At the end of the school year, Mr. Nguyen Tri Thanh emotionally advised: “The efforts and achievements you have made in your studies and training are the most beautiful flowers offered to the leaders, parents, teachers, and benefactors; they are a shining gem that further enhances the glorious tradition of our school. I wish the 411 12th-grade students the highest possible results in the high school graduation exam. In the future, may you be dynamic individuals in all fields, useful citizens for your locality and for the country. Every success of yours is a joy for your parents and teachers.”

Phan Kim Anh (class 11V1) listened attentively to the sharing of her senior, Phan Linh Da, and the advice of the principal. She was very proud of her achievement (second prize in the provincial-level excellent student competition in Literature), at a time when she was just beginning to build a solid foundation in the subject. “I greatly admire the achievements of the seniors, so I will strive to learn more about both knowledge and skills. It’s not just about theoretical learning; it’s about practice and applying what I learn to real life. From now on, I will focus more on pursuing my passion and shaping my future,” Kim Anh said, her eyes shining with ambition and determination.

The closing ceremony marked the end of the old school year, but it also opened up many hopes and expectations for the future, for the increasingly mature generation of students at the school named after the valedictorian. It is certain that the outstanding achievements will continue to be maintained by the students, so that next year's closing ceremony will be filled with just as much pride and happiness.
