The BYD Seal Performance is equipped with two electric motors on both the front and rear axles, delivering a total output of 523 horsepower and 670 Nm of torque. This allows the car to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, a performance comparable to many sports cars with traditional internal combustion engines. Weighing over 2 tons, even in Eco mode, the car still demonstrates impressive acceleration and responsive throttle control.
For those unfamiliar with electric vehicle performance, getting used to Seal Performance requires alertness and good control. Sport mode provides a distinctly exhilarating feeling, but it can also easily lead drivers to exceed speed limits if they lack experience or are not aware of traffic conditions.
Suspension and driving feel
The BYD Seal uses a mechanical suspension system, with a double wishbone structure at the front and a multi-link rear suspension. This system is finely tuned for a sporty feel, providing good body control at high speeds. Although the car needs a few bounces to stabilize when going over large bridges, the overall feeling remains solid and safe.
The driver's seat is positioned near the center of the wheelbase, minimizing body sway when cornering or changing lanes. This, combined with speed-sensitive power steering, allows the driver to easily control the vehicle in various driving conditions. In Sport mode, the steering wheel provides clear feedback, comparable to many German models.
Sound insulation and chassis quality
BYD Seal Performance's sound insulation capabilities are highly rated in its segment. Equipped with double-glazed windows, a robust chassis, and optimized aerodynamic design (drag coefficient of 0.29 Cd), the vehicle significantly reduces wind noise at high speeds.
However, due to the use of 19-inch rims and wide 235/45 tires, noise from under the chassis penetrates into the cabin quite significantly when driving at speeds of 90 km/h or higher.
The exterior is sporty, modern, and aerodynamically optimized.
The BYD Seal Performance boasts a sporty, sleek, and seamless fastback design. Details such as the hidden door handles, tinted windows, and small rear spoiler contribute to its modern appearance.
The car is equipped with intelligent LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, parking assist sensors, and an electrically operated tailgate. It features sporty multi-spoke 19-inch wheels, combined with elongated 3D LED taillights.
Minimalist, spacious, and tech-savvy interior.
With a wheelbase exceeding 2.9 meters, the BYD Seal offers ample cabin space for both rows of seats. The cockpit features a minimalist design, focusing on a 15.6-inch central touchscreen that can rotate vertically/horizontally. The car also has a 10.25-inch digital display behind the steering wheel and a head-up display (HUD) on the Performance version.
Finishing materials include premium leather and fabric, with raised blue stitching. Highlights of this version include a 12-speaker DYNAUDIO sound system, dual-zone climate control, multi-color ambient interior lighting, two wireless charging pads, a head-up display, and more.
The seats are upholstered in genuine leather, 8-way power adjustable, heated, ventilated, and have memory settings. The rear seats can be folded 60:40, have ISOFIX, and a center armrest. The rear luggage compartment has a capacity of 400 liters, with an additional 50 liters in the front trunk.
Operation and charging, a powerful experience coupled with infrastructure challenges.
A battery with a capacity of over 82 kWh accounts for approximately one-third of the vehicle's weight. In practical use, the power consumption for nearly 500 km of travel, when the battery level drops from 90% to 30%, is reasonable, but charging speed remains a point to consider.
The included 2.2 kW charger takes too long to charge, and it also requires a ground connection, which is quite inconvenient. Fast charging at private stations (like EV Charge) takes almost 2 hours to charge from 30% to 100%, costing around 460,000 VND. Although it can't compete with the free charging policies of some domestic manufacturers, the overall operating costs are still reasonable compared to gasoline cars in the same segment.
A major plus point came from BYD Vietnam's technical support; the company sent technicians to install a 7.7 kW charging station at the test drive vehicle's home immediately after delivery.

The BYD Seal Performance is an electric sedan that offers a powerful driving experience, modern design, and impressive features in the sub-1.4 billion VND price segment. However, to maximize the car's performance, users need to consider the current charging infrastructure, especially when living in apartments or densely populated areas.
For those who love speed and are looking for a pure performance electric vehicle, the BYD Seal Performance is a worthwhile option, although there are still some limitations that need improvement given Vietnam's infrastructure.
