Vietnamese singers are making positive progress.

"The 'Queen Bee' isn't afraid to 'brave the storm'"

From the TV program airing every Saturday night on VTV3 - "Beautiful Women Riding the Waves ," it's evident that numerous artists, even those with long-standing experience and fame such as Hong Nhung, My Linh, Thu Phuong, Le Quyen, Doan Trang, Luu Huong Giang, Phuong Vy, Uyen Linh... have made efforts to reinvent themselves, practicing additional skills to integrate with the new currents of modern music and meet the entertainment needs of the audience.

In early 2024, at the VTV Awards 2023 ceremony, the first season of the show "Beautiful Women Riding the Waves" was honored in the category of "Impressive Entertainment Program". The inspiring stories of dedication to their profession, overcoming age barriers to reach personal limits, and the spectacular stage performances by 30 female singers over 30 years old captivated the audience. Viewers were surprised and amazed to see Hong Nhung, My Linh, Thu Phuong, Le Quyen, and others rapping, performing hip hop and breakdance moves, somersaulting in the air, balleting, doing splits, and showcasing various contemporary dance styles.

Singer Hong Nhung shared: "If I hadn't participated in 'Beautiful Sisters Riding the Waves ,' I would have stayed absolutely safe with the image of standing still and singing love songs, as I've done for over four decades. Transformation, breaking the mold, and reinventing myself are part of the game, but it helped me turn around my image, stemming from my love of music, gratitude, creative spirit, and pouring all my heart and energy into performing as if it were my last performance." Singer My Linh added: "I dared to do things I'd never done before, trying diverse dance moves and experimenting with instruments like the harmonica, stone xylophone, and rap..."

As one of the "four great divas of Vietnamese music," My Linh always keeps pace with the times, openly embracing new cultural trends and maintaining close relationships with young artists. Recently, My Linh and her team released a new version of the song " Short Hair " in collaboration with two Gen Z rappers, Phap Kieu and Liu Grace, along with producer DuongK, featuring a strong electropop/hiphop/future house vibe. She said: "25 years ago, I dared to change, cut my hair short, and do dance moves. My willingness to pursue my passion and constantly improve myself will inspire future generations. The younger generation is very talented now, and I'm fortunate to have the opportunity to be close to them!"

My Tam shared a series of major projects for 2024 at a fan meeting on the afternoon of January 14th.

Audiences are now surprised and showing great support as Vietnam Idol winner Phuong Vy and Luu Huong Giang team up to form a "fiery" two-member girl group called VibeQueens, with many upcoming projects.

Not only the names from the "Beautiful Sisters Riding the Waves" show, but also big names like My Tam, Ho Ngoc Ha, Thu Minh, Ha Anh Tuan, Vo Ha Tram... are constantly reinventing themselves, updating and keeping up with current trends, to join the younger generation of singers and songwriters (who are releasing albums, MVs, and new music projects every day and every week) in creating a more vibrant and colorful picture of Vietnamese music.

Following her "My Soul 1981" live show in Ha Long ( Quang Ninh ), My Tam revealed many musical plans for 2024, including continuing with the third season of the "My Soul" live show, releasing the "Tri Am" DVD show, and launching more new music videos. My Tam recently achieved the record for the most views on YouTube for a Vietnamese female artist, totaling 1.6 billion views; and is the first Vietnamese female singer to have four music videos reach 100 million views. At the end of 2023, My Tam had the honor of being the first Vietnamese artist to appear twice in Times Square, New York, as part of Spotify's global campaign to celebrate female artist talent.

Singer Ha Anh Tuan will have a "musical dialogue" (followed by a documentary film) when he holds the Storii Concert 02 - The Keeper of Spring live show on February 24th and 25th at the National Convention Center in Hanoi , singing with Tuan Ngoc, Le Hieu, Vu... Director Cao Trung Hieu, who is staging the show, shared: "For the first time, these four male vocalists will stand together on one stage, together telling the story of 'spring' through their own narratives and unique collaborations; and they are the keepers of spring for generations of music lovers." Shortly after tickets went on sale, the production team announced that all tickets for both nights of the live show had sold out.

Singer Thu Minh, at a press conference on the afternoon of January 16th in Ho Chi Minh City, also announced her return with even more spectacular projects in 2024, including the release of music videos, online music series, and even a solo live show. Meanwhile, Ho Ngoc Ha stated: "2024 marks the 20th anniversary of my singing career, so of course there will be many plans, such as a Love Songs live show in Ho Chi Minh City after two previous shows in Da Lat and Da Nang; along with many other very special projects that I won't reveal yet, so that when they are announced, they will surprise the audience."
