The amount of water flowing into hydroelectric reservoirs has been increasing daily.

Regarding the power supply situation on June 15th, the Electricity Regulatory Authority stated that water flow into major hydropower reservoirs in the North has improved somewhat, with reservoirs now above the dead water level. However, they are limiting the operation of large multi-purpose hydropower plants (except for the Hoa Binh hydropower plant) to prepare for the upcoming hot days.

Coal-fired power plants, having been operating continuously at maximum capacity for a long time, have gradually experienced more technical problems, leading to reduced unit capacity and short-term outages.

The peak power capacity in the North on June 15, 2023, reached 17,893 MW, of which the peak power capacity of hydropower was 3,590 MW.

Water levels in the Hoa Binh hydroelectric reservoir are rising daily.

Following the Prime Minister's directive, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has implemented several specific solutions to ensure electricity supply. These include implementing the Prime Minister's directive on electricity conservation; ensuring the supply of coal and gas for power generation; actively supplementing the system with new power sources; and focusing on resolving power supply failures.

However, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also advised that, although water flow into hydropower reservoirs in the North has improved somewhat, the reservoirs are already above the dead water level. Nevertheless, it is necessary to limit the mobilization of large multi-purpose hydropower plants (except for the Hoa Binh hydropower plant) to prepare for the upcoming hot days.
