1. Ingredients for making Yule Log Cake

4 chicken eggs
Half a teaspoon of tartar
50g sugar
5g unsalted butter
3 tablespoons of cooking oil
40g unsweetened fresh milk
20g all-purpose flour
20g cornstarch
Half a teaspoon of vanilla
200ml chocolate whipped cream
100ml fresh cream
Half a teaspoon of salt

2. How to make Yule Log Cake

Step 1: Make the cake base

Melt the butter in the microwave or using a double boiler, then add a little sugar, milk, and oil and stir until dissolved.

Next, separate the egg yolks and egg whites. Add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and beat for 10 seconds, then add the cream of tartar and beat until the mixture is fluffy and forms soft peaks.

Next, add the egg yolk and butter mixture to the bowl of egg whites and stir well. Gradually sift in the flour, stirring evenly around the sides of the bowl in one direction.

Step 2 : Bake the cake

Preheat the oven to 175°C for 10 minutes. Line the baking pan with parchment paper, pour the batter into the pan, and gently tap the sides to release any air bubbles and ensure the cake rises evenly.

Bake the cake for 20 minutes at 170 degrees Celsius.

Step 3 : Shaping the cake

You can check if the cake is done by inserting a toothpick into it; if the toothpick comes out clean, it's ready.

Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before rolling it to shape it. After rolling, let the cake cool completely.

Step 4 : Decorate the cake

Once the cake has cooled, whip up some chocolate cream and spread it over the cake. You can use a fork to draw lines on the cake to resemble a log, then decorate it as you like. Finally, roll it up to shape the cake.
