Huong Son pomelos are spherical in shape, with a yellow-orange peel when ripe, easy to peel, juicy segments, few seeds, a sweet and refreshing taste, a captivating aroma, and high nutritional value. In addition, pomelos are considered a medicinal remedy for many ailments such as colds, bronchitis, intestinal diseases, cardiovascular problems, and general weakness.
The harvest season for Huong Son mandarin oranges begins in early December of the lunar calendar and lasts through the Lunar New Year. Each orange tree, about 2 meters tall, yields around 100 to 200 fruits, with each fruit weighing an average of 0.2kg – 0.3kg. The average selling price ranges from 40,000 VND to 70,000 VND per kilogram, depending on the variety. Therefore, mandarin orange trees bring very high economic efficiency compared to other crops in this region.
The pomelo tree has now become a brand associated with the Huong Son region. Especially during Tet (Lunar New Year), pomelos are a suitable product chosen by people in Ha Tinh to offer to their ancestors and as a valuable gift for relatives and friends.
