Mr. Mang Do's family (Suoi Lau 1 village, Suoi Cat commune, Cam Lam district) has more than 1 hectare of hilly land, but due to lack of capital for production investment, lack of knowledge and experience in business, they have been struggling for many years without finding a direction for economic development. Therefore, the locality has guided and confirmed for Mr. Do to complete the procedures to borrow 50 million VND from the Social Policy Bank. At the same time, the locality has supported training and transferred techniques for plant care to the family. Since then, Mr. Do has invested in planting 1 hectare of acacia and more than 210 mango, green-skinned grapefruit, and Thai jackfruit trees. With hard work, up to now, the family's fruit garden has yielded a harvest of nearly 50 million VND each year. The acacia crop that has been planted for 4 years is about to be harvested. Mr. Mang Do shared: “In addition to supporting loans and business methods, every year the local authorities visit and provide support to help create conditions for the family to rise up. In the future, after selling acacia, I will take advantage of the fruit tree canopy to invest in raising free-range chickens.”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen - Vice Chairman of Suoi Cat Commune People's Committee said that the commune has 591 households with 2,468 ethnic minority people. Along with economic development, the locality always pays attention to implementing policies and resources to support and care for people's lives. In particular, the locality has opened vocational training classes for sewing, welding, construction, and fruit tree planting for more than 100 ethnic minority workers. From there, workers are introduced to work in enterprises in Suoi Dau Industrial Park or create jobs for themselves. In addition, the locality also applies resources to support the construction of 85 houses for ethnic minority households to help them settle down and find work. In particular, Khanh Hoa Newspaper is the leading unit in supporting house building for local people. Along with that, the locality always creates the best conditions for people to borrow preferential loans to invest in economic development; issue health insurance cards; Implement social welfare policies well..., thereby contributing to ensuring social security in the area.

Currently, Cam Phuoc Tay commune (Cam Lam district) has 333 households with 1,210 ethnic minority people. Along with investing in completing infrastructure and developing the economy, the locality has always implemented policies well and cared for the people's lives. Up to now, 100% of children of school age go to school and enjoy support policies. 100% of people have been granted health insurance cards; more than 130 hectares of production forest land have been separated to support people in economic development; 80% of working-age people have been supported in vocational training and job creation. In addition, the commune has also mobilized more than 1.4 billion VND to support the construction of 24 houses for people in difficult circumstances... Thanks to these support policies, up to now, the average income of ethnic minority people in the commune has reached 30 million VND/person/year...

Take good care of people's lives

Currently, Cam Lam district has 1,670 households with 7,241 ethnic minority people such as Raglai, Thai, Nung, Muong, Cham, Hoa, Tay... Determining to develop synchronous infrastructure to create momentum to promote socio-economic development, the district has mobilized budget capital and socialized capital to invest in construction and upgrading the entire traffic system in the area, facilitating trade of goods, promoting production, business, economic development and improving income and living standards for people. The district has paid attention to supporting people with residential land, production land, domestic water; supporting job conversion, borrowing capital for economic development; investing in health care,education , culture... helping to bring about clear results, contributing to changing the face of rural and mountainous areas of the district; improving the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities.

Up to now, most of the schools in the ethnic minority and mountainous areas have been invested and upgraded. The staff and teachers in the ethnic minority areas are sufficient and qualified. By the end of 2024, 100% of communes will meet national standards on universal preschool education for 5-year-old children, level 2 illiteracy eradication, level 3 primary education universalization, and level 1 secondary education universalization. In addition, currently, 100% of the district's communes meet national criteria on health; 100% of communes have health stations and are arranged with qualified doctors and medical staff to provide timely medical examination and treatment; all villages in the ethnic minority areas have village health workers. Activities to disseminate and popularize the law and develop community tourism are organized regularly. Particularly from the beginning of 2024 to now, the district has organized 15 dissemination classes for 1,200 ethnic minority people. Prestigious people in the ethnic minority areas are all cared for, visited and supported by the locality. Every year, the district also mobilizes units and enterprises to give 1,056 gifts, worth more than 460 million VND to people on holidays and Tet... Thanks to effective implementation of the policy, up to now, Cam Lam district has 2/3 communes in the ethnic minority area, namely Suoi Cat commune and Cam Phuoc Tay commune, which have been recognized as meeting new rural standards.
