Observations at the Dragon men's barbershop (Thanh Sen ward) show that the number of customers has increased 4-5 times compared to normal times these days. From early morning to late night, the shop is always packed with people. Customers who arrive later have to wait for hours before it's their turn. To meet the demand, barbers and hair washers work continuously, taking advantage of lunch breaks, and even working overtime in the evening.

Ms. Tran Thi Huyen Trang, owner of Dragon men's hair salon, said: "With only a few days left until Tet (Lunar New Year), everyone is rushing to get groomed. The salon is packed with customers all day, especially during peak hours like lunchtime and in the evening when customers have to queue to get services. In the days leading up to Tet, the salon has to work overtime from 8 am until after 11 pm before closing."
Not only men's barbershops, but many women's hair salons in the area are in a similar situation. Many women are taking advantage of the time to get perms, straightening, and coloring... to get a new look for the spring season. Most customers have to book appointments in advance to use the services.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh from Thach Lac commune shared: “Every Tet holiday, I go to the salon to get my hair restored and dyed a new color. This year, I had to book an appointment 3 days in advance. Even though I arrived early, I still had to wait quite a long time because there were so many customers.”

Mr. Nguyen Van Duong, owner of Duong Nguyen hair salon (Thanh Sen ward), said: “In the past few weeks, the number of customers coming to get their hair done has increased sharply, especially in the days leading up to Tet. To better serve customers, the salon has proactively added equipment, increased staff, and extended opening hours; at the same time, we are applying a 10% discount program for customers who book appointments in advance to reduce waiting times. This year, many new hairstyles are popular, such as layered haircuts and orange-brown hair coloring...”
Besides hair services, other beauty services such as eyelash extensions, nail care, and skincare have also seen a surge in customers. Many establishments have had to mobilize all available staff, working through lunchtime and overtime until the 29th day of the Lunar New Year.

In addition, to attract customers, some salons are also updating with new beauty trends such as intensive hair restoration, fashionable hair coloring, nail art with rhinestones, natural-style eyelash extensions, and high-tech skincare... thereby meeting the increasingly diverse needs of customers, especially young people.
Prices for services during the period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year) have seen slight adjustments, but not significant changes. Many business owners say the price adjustments are mainly aimed at compensating for overtime labor costs and ensuring income for employees during the year-end period.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Duong, owner of Anh Duong Eyelash salon (Thanh Sen ward), said: “Because the salon only has 3 or 4 employees, customers need to book appointments in advance to ensure availability. We will be open until the 29th day of the Lunar New Year to serve customers; service prices remain the same as usual, ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 VND per set.”

Despite the high work pressure and long working hours, this is the time of year that generates the most significant revenue. Revenue during the period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year) can increase many times compared to a normal month, helping to compensate for off-peak periods. The hustle and bustle at beauty salons in the days before Tet contributes to the lively and exciting atmosphere before the new year.
