
On June 25, a Singapore- flagged cargo ship was attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Later, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that Iran had attacked a Panamanian-flagged oil tanker on the morning of June 27.
CENTCOM stated that the U.S. has carried out new airstrikes targeting Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communications systems, air defense positions, drone storage facilities, and mine-laying capabilities.
In the early hours of June 28 (local time), Iran also launched missile and drone attacks on US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait.
Tehran stated that this move was in response to Washington's latest airstrikes on Iranian territory.
Despite responding with strong military force, Iran has left open the possibility of avoiding escalation if Washington abides by its commitments.
In a statement, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stressed that violating the ceasefire is contrary to the Islamabad Memorandum and could lead to the "complete termination of all diplomatic processes."
On June 27, the foreign ministers of Egypt, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) called for ensuring maritime safety through the Strait of Hormuz, while urging continued talks between Iran and the United States to reduce tensions and promote regional security and stability.
