In response to this situation, the Global Oxygen Alliance (GO2AL), comprising around 20 leading organizations worldwide, is calling on world leaders to prioritize access to medical oxygen in their strategies, policies, and finances.
The appeal was made ahead of three high-level United Nations meetings on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, universal health coverage, and tuberculosis, from September 20-22.
According to Peter Sands, Managing Director of the Global Fund, access to a sustainable and reliable supply of medical oxygen is crucial to achieving the health-related goals of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and is also vital for responding to future health threats.
