Warning of new online scams

The Department of Information Security - Ministry of Information and Communications has just pointed out a new online fraud method of impersonating soldiers to defraud and appropriate people's property.

According to the Department of Information Security, before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2024, in many places across the country, impersonation and impersonation of military personnel have appeared to defraud and appropriate property. The subjects wear military uniforms to make video calls, making the victims trust and lose their vigilance. Some subjects call or send messages to people, claiming to be "commanders and managers" of their children working in the military to inform them about disciplinary violations and ask people to transfer money to compensate for damages and remedy the consequences caused by their children.

The Information Security Department recommends that people be vigilant and wary of this scam; do not provide personal information, accounts, VNeID passwords, OTP codes, citizen identification information, bank accounts to anyone; do not follow the instructions or requests of subjects using strange phone numbers to call. In addition, when detecting cases with signs of fraud, people need to immediately report to the nearest police agency for support.
