Emergency treatment of complex eye trauma cases

The Department of Ophthalmology, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital has just received and successfully performed emergency surgery on a case of severe eye injury due to a work accident.

Master, Doctor Le Thi Yen re-examines the patient's eyes 2 days after surgery.

Mr. TVT, 32 years old, residing in Luong Son ward ( Thai Nguyen province) was hospitalized with a tear in the inner corner of the eye, a ruptured superior lacrimal duct, a complex tear in the eyelid skin, and crushed eyelid tissue, including the tarsal cartilage.

This is a serious injury, with the risk of seriously affecting visual function and eye aesthetics.

Immediately after admission, the doctors urgently performed surgery to reconnect the lacrimal canal, restore the eye angle and regenerate the eyelid tissue. With meticulousness in each operation and 2 days after surgery, the patient's vision, eyelid lifting function and aesthetic shape of the eye area were preserved.

Performing surgery directly on the patient, Master, Doctor Le Thi Yen said: Eye injuries at work are very dangerous, can cause serious damage such as corneal scratches, intraocular bleeding, retinal detachment, optic nerve damage, even permanent vision loss or blindness.

Therefore, workers need to strictly follow safety procedures and use protective glasses to minimize the risk of accidents.
