The report on the socio-economic situation in the first six months of 2024 and key tasks for the last six months of 2024, presented by the Chief of the Provincial People's Committee Office, Nguyen Trong Trang, at the meeting, clearly stated: In the first six months of 2024, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, under the timely and close leadership and guidance of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee, the efforts of all levels and sectors, and the unity of the business community and all strata of the people, the province's socio-economic situation showed many bright spots and continued to improve in most areas. Notably, the estimated GRDP growth rate reached 11.5%, ranking first in the North Central region and third nationwide.

Agricultural, forestry, and fisheries production maintained stable growth; the growth rate for the first six months of 2024 is estimated at 3.4%. In particular, agricultural production continued to yield a good harvest; the total planted area for the 2024 Winter-Spring crop reached 237.7 thousand hectares, with an estimated food production of 893 thousand tons, an increase of 0.4% compared to the same period; rice yield alone is estimated at 67.5 quintals/hectare, the highest ever. Forestry continued to develop sustainably, and forest security was ensured. The province planted 6,100 hectares of concentrated forest, an increase of 4.8% compared to the same period.

Agricultural production organizational forms continue to develop; currently, the province has 1,386 enterprises, 768 cooperatives and 2 cooperative unions, 995 farms, and 1,266 cooperative groups in agriculture.

The National Target Program for New Rural Development continues to receive attention; in the first six months of the year, an additional 4 communes achieved the status of New Rural Development, 13 communes achieved the status of Advanced New Rural Development, and 9 communes achieved the status of Model New Rural Development. To date, the entire province has 13 district-level units that have met the standards and completed the tasks of New Rural Development; 363 out of 465 communes and 717 mountainous villages have met the New Rural Development standards; 97 communes have met the standards of Advanced New Rural Development; and 23 communes and 489 villages have met the standards of Model New Rural Development.

In the industrial sector, despite facing numerous difficulties and challenges, with the motto "perseverance and seizing opportunities," industrial production units and facilities in the province have proactively restructured and optimized production processes to adapt flexibly to market fluctuations. In addition, several new industrial facilities have come into operation in the province, so industrial production continues to maintain good growth momentum; the growth rate in the first six months of the year is estimated at 21.1%; the industrial production index (IIP) is estimated to increase by 15.8% compared to the same period last year.

Domestic trade activities were vibrant, with abundant supply of goods; prices remained stable, with no hoarding or price spikes. Total retail sales of goods and services in the first six months of the year were estimated at VND 94,392 billion, an increase of 12.9% compared to the same period last year. Tourism activities showed positive signs from the beginning of the year. According to statistics, the total number of tourists in the first six months was estimated at 9,780.6 thousand, an increase of 16.1% compared to the same period last year, reaching 70.9% of the plan (of which international tourists were estimated at 261 thousand, an increase of 21.3%); total tourism revenue was estimated at VND 19,848.5 billion, an increase of 30.2% compared to the same period last year, reaching 61.3% of the plan.

According to the report, in the first six months of 2024, state budget revenue is estimated at VND 27,348 billion, an increase of 29.6% compared to the same period last year, reaching 76.9% of the projected target. Of this, domestic revenue is estimated at VND 16,673 billion, an increase of 36.9% compared to the same period last year, reaching 75.7% of the projected target; revenue from import and export activities is estimated at VND 10,675 billion, an increase of 19.7%, reaching 78.8% of the projected target.

Total social investment mobilized in the province during the first six months of the year is estimated at VND 65,885 billion, an increase of 3.2% compared to the same period last year, reaching 48.8% of the plan. The province attracted 59 direct investment projects (including 12 FDI projects), with a total registered investment capital of VND 10,905 billion and USD 177.5 million; an increase of 78.8% in the number of projects and a 25.3% increase in registered capital compared to the same period last year. This is a positive sign, demonstrating investors' confidence in the province's growth prospects, stability, and attractive investment environment.

Along with economic indicators, the quality of cultural and social activities continues to improve; social security policies are fully and promptly implemented, and people's lives are improved. According to reviews and statistics, Thanh Hoa province leads the country in the percentage of students winning prizes and ranks 4th nationwide in the number of first-place winners in the 2023-2024 National High School Student Excellence Competition. Also in this academic year, Thanh Hoa students won 4 medals of various types at regional and international Olympic competitions. The campaign to support housing construction for poor households, policy beneficiary households, and households facing housing difficulties in the province has been enthusiastically supported and highly appreciated by Party committees, authorities at all levels, businesses, and the people. Political security and social order are ensured, creating a favorable environment for economic development.
