Urgent need to invest in inter-communal roads.

Following the merger, many district roads that had not been widened or were severely degraded need investment to alleviate traffic bottlenecks between communes, serving the goal of promoting economic development and ensuring traffic safety.

Dong Duong's concerns

Every time he travels on district road (DH) 27.TB, Mr. Huynh Bay (residing in Nam Binh Son village, Dong Duong commune) is worried because the cement concrete road surface is broken and cracked, with many places where the foundation has subsided, making it easy to lose control of the steering wheel, which is very dangerous. The cross-section of this inter-communal road is also narrow and lacks street lighting, making traffic difficult, especially at night.

According to Mr. Bui Trong Nin, Head of the Economic Department of Dong Duong commune, the DH27.TB route is a vital transportation artery of the former Thang Binh district.

This route connects to National Highway 14E through Dong Duong commune, from where you can go down to Thang Dien and Thang Phu communes, or connect with the DH7.TB route to Viet An commune.

The current state of Highway 27.TB is characterized by a narrow cross-section, and the roadbed and surface are severely damaged in many places, affecting trade and traffic safety. This makes it difficult to attract investment for the development of industry and agriculture in general, and ecotourism in the Cao Ngan Lake area in particular.

According to statistics, Dong Duong commune has 9 provincial roads with a total length of 61.9km and a road surface width of mainly 3.5m.

According to Ms. Phan Thi Nhi, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People's Council of Dong Duong commune, a few locations where the road shoulders were previously reinforced by 1 meter on each side to widen the road to 5.5 meters, such as routes DH18.TB, DH7.TB, DH28.TB, and DH26.TB, are very few compared to the traffic volume.

Local authorities are deeply concerned that the roadbeds and surfaces of the remaining provincial highways are even smaller than rural roads and are now severely degraded, failing to meet the needs of development and traffic flow for the people.

"In order to create a new dynamic zone for socio-economic development and to serve the needs of transportation and trade, Dong Duong commune earnestly hopes to receive attention and resources to expand transportation infrastructure linking with the communes of Que Son, Que Son Trung, Thang Binh, Thang Phu, Son Cam Ha, Viet An, etc."

"Only in this way can the role of connecting functional areas and concentrated production zones according to the production chain plan with businesses in the city, capable of leading and forming a key economic ecosystem of the commune, be fully realized," Ms. Nhi shared.

Investment is needed.

The inter-communal road system not only plays a role in connecting provincial and national highways, but is also a necessary condition for expanding production, exploiting the potential and strengths of each locality, and linking development between regions.

However, many provincial highways, which have not been expanded or have severely deteriorated, have become "bottlenecks" in serving the goals of promoting the economy and ensuring traffic safety, and are a "negative point" in the eyes of investors.

In Phu Thuan commune, a section of the DH5.DL road, approximately 1km long, is peeling off, posing a danger to road users.

Meanwhile, this route connects the communes in Zone B of the former Dai Loc district to the Khe Tan irrigation reservoir and historical and cultural sites.

According to Mr. Tran Cong Phung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Thuan commune, the locality hopes that the City People's Committee will pay attention and allocate resources to continue implementing the project to reinforce rural roads and transportation routes. Currently, the need for investment and upgrading is very large, while the commune's budget is quite limited. Similarly, the DH19.DL road is also degraded and has a narrow cross-section.

According to Mr. Tran Xuan Van, Head of the Economic Department of Ha Nha commune, the 2.2km-long Highway 19 connects Provincial Road 609 and National Highway 14B, passing through the Suoi Mo ecological tourist area.

The road surface, having been asphalted a long time ago, is severely degraded. There is a 4-meter-wide reinforced concrete bridge that is frequently submerged by floodwaters, reaching depths of 2-3 meters and disrupting traffic during the rainy season. Located in a mountainous area, the transportation infrastructure in Song Kon commune has yet to be upgraded or expanded.

According to Do Huu Tung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Song Kon commune, the commune has proposed that the city prioritize resources for building an inter-commune road connecting National Highway 14G in Ra Lang village (Song Kon commune) to Provincial Road 609 in Ben Hien village (Ben Hien commune) to access areas for growing medicinal plants, cinnamon, and other characteristic fruit trees.

This route also connects Bhơ Hôồng Tourist Village through Đông Giang Heaven's Gate Eco-tourism Area, making it convenient for tourists to visit and experience the culture and cuisine of the highlands.

Also located in a mountainous area, Phuoc Tra commune has inter-commune roads with uneven current quality. Many roads are not durable, have a very high risk of damage, are low-lying and flood during the rainy season, making travel difficult.

The commune leaders shared that the continued support from Da Nang city in investing resources to upgrade and expand inter-commune roads is essential to ensure inter-regional transportation connectivity, serve socio-economic development, maximize the potential and advantages of the locality, and contribute to improving people's income.

Agreement reached on the investment plan for upgrading National Highway 14G.

The Standing Committee of the City Party Committee has agreed on the policy to invest in upgrading National Highway 14G from Tuy Loan to Dong Giang commune, as requested by the Party Committee of the City People's Committee in Document No. 1626-CV/DU dated January 10, 2026.

Previously, the City People's Committee issued Notice No. 378/TB-VP dated October 20, 2025, agreeing on the plan and content of the proposal to upgrade and expand National Highway 14G submitted by the Department of Finance and the Department of Construction.

The existing route begins at the intersection with National Highway 14B (in Ba Na commune) and ends at kilometer marker 66+000, intersecting with the Ho Chi Minh Highway (in Dong Giang commune).

Expected cross-sectional scale: The section from the beginning to the Western Ring Road (km0+000 - km7+967) is a main urban arterial road with a cross-sectional width of 28m.

The section from the Western Ring Road intersection to Kien Hill (km7+967 - km25+000) is a Class III mountain road with a roadbed width of 12m.

The section from Doc Kien to the intersection with Ho Chi Minh Highway in Dong Giang commune is a mountainous Class IV road with a roadbed width of 9m. The total investment for the entire route is estimated at approximately 4,978.9 billion VND.

It is known that National Highway 14G, especially the section from Doc Kien in Song Vang commune, to Song Kon commune and then to Dong Giang commune, is narrow, winding, and has severely damaged roadbeds and surfaces in many places.

The current state of the road does not ensure traffic safety, affecting the movement and trade of goods, and hindering the attraction of businesses to invest in economic development in the mountainous region.
