Casemiro faced backlash. |
Starting in Carlo Ancelotti's lineup, the 34-year-old star was expected to bring stability to Brazil's midfield. However, the reality was quite the opposite. From the very first minutes, Casemiro and his teammates in the midfield struggled against Morocco's fast-paced and energetic style of play.
The African representatives consistently exploited the gaps in the midfield area. It was from a central penetration that Morocco scored the opening goal in the first half. Casemiro was criticized for not performing his defensive duties well, causing Brazil's tactical system to operate ineffectively.
Although Vinicius Junior scored the equalizer for Brazil at halftime, Casemiro's performance remained a target of criticism. In his more than 45 minutes on the pitch, the former Manchester United midfielder appeared sluggish in tackles, inaccurate in his passes, and had virtually no impact on the team's build-up play.

The frustration intensified when Casemiro received a yellow card at the end of the first half. Immediately after the break, coach Ancelotti decided to substitute him, giving Fabinho a chance.
On social media, many Brazilian and Manchester United fans expressed their disappointment. Numerous opinions suggested that Casemiro is showing clear signs of decline compared to his peak form while playing for the "Red Devils".
"Casemiro can't handle a high-intensity match," one account wrote. Another fan commented: "Casemiro and Bruno Guimaraes look like strangers on the pitch." Another fan remarked: "Brazil's midfield clearly has a major problem; if they don't fix it, they'll struggle to win the championship this year."
Despite avoiding defeat against Morocco, Casemiro will undoubtedly face more pressure in the next match against Haiti on June 20th.
