| Leaders of the Provincial Red Cross Society and sponsors presented financial assistance for building a new house to Mr. Ly Van Vi, in Ngoa village, Yen Phu commune. |
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, said: Many people, especially the poor, were left almost penniless after the floods. The collective support of the community is especially meaningful during this difficult time. With the goal of ensuring that the poor, those in difficult circumstances, and those in dangerous areas do not live in temporary, dilapidated, and unsafe houses, the Provincial Red Cross Society has intensified its propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage people to uphold the tradition of mutual assistance and join hands in helping others. At the same time, it has coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to review, inspect, and ensure transparency to guarantee the rights of truly needy households regarding housing, so that timely support can be provided. Furthermore, it has compiled lists and records of humanitarian addresses as a basis for mobilizing resources to assist disadvantaged individuals, poor and near-poor households with housing to stabilize their lives.
Due to the direct impact of prolonged heavy rain and flooding from upstream, Yen Phu commune suffered heavy damage, with an initial estimated total loss of approximately 21 billion VND. This includes 29 houses with damaged roofs; the emergency relocation of 31 households in Ngoa village; damage to over 70% of rice, corn, and fruit crops; and landslides along 19 sections of inter-village concrete roads.
Comrade Nguyen Van Uoc, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yen Phu commune, shared: To quickly stabilize housing for affected people, the commune assigned Party committees, government agencies, and socio- political organizations to mobilize and receive resources. At the same time, the Standing Committee members of the Party Committee in charge of the villages, the Party branch secretaries, and village heads were tasked with mobilizing the people to agree to move to the new resettlement area. The Economic Department acted as the permanent coordinating body, urging relevant units to implement the project safely and on schedule for housing in the Ngoa village resettlement area. In particular, the commune received support from the Provincial Red Cross Society, connecting with sponsors to help people have houses sooner, demonstrating a spirit of community responsibility and contributing to the government's efforts to improve the lives of the people.
Ms. Lu Thi Dung, from Lung Vai village, Yen Minh commune, is a household facing difficult circumstances. Floods caused her house to completely collapse, burying her belongings in the mud. Responding promptly, the Provincial Red Cross Society connected with Vingroup Corporation to receive 60 million VND in support, and with the assistance of the local government, the foundation of her new house is now gradually taking shape. The house will cover an area of over 60 square meters and cost over 130 million VND. Ms. Dung shared: “This is a gift of encouragement and a timely show of concern from the Red Cross Society and the local government. My family will try our best to overcome the difficulties and stabilize our lives soon.”
To date, the Provincial Red Cross Society has mobilized resources and benefactors to support the repair and construction of 48 houses with a total value of over 2.3 billion VND. Of these, the Thien Tam Fund - Vingroup Group sponsored 46 houses for new construction and repairs; and the Mechanical and Electrical Business Association ( Ho Chi Minh City) sponsored 2 new houses.
With a spirit of sharing and mutual support, the Provincial Red Cross Society and the people of Tuyen Quang are continuing to write a heartwarming story of human kindness.
