TPO - After two years of construction, the longest road bridge on the North-South expressway, spanning the Lam River (over 4 km long) connecting Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, is expected to open to traffic at the end of June.

The Hung Duc Bridge, with a total length of nearly 4.1 km, spans the Lam River and La Giang River, connecting Hung Nguyen District ( Nghe An Province ) and Duc Tho District (Ha Tinh Province). Construction began in May 2022 with a total investment of over 1,300 billion VND.

The Hung Duc bridge construction project is part of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot section of the North-South expressway. This project involves five contractors and passes through many villages and fields.

At this point, the Hung Duc bridge is basically complete. The construction unit is currently drilling and excavating to create expansion joints.

Currently, five contractors working on the Hung Duc bridge project are concentrating their machinery and equipment to complete the remaining items.

On the construction site, the contractor is installing barriers and dividers separating the two lanes.

The bridge, designed in the phased construction stage, has two lanes for motor vehicles with a deck width of 17.5 m, comprising 90 spans; including 76 Super T spans and 14 cantilever spans, with a design speed of 80 km/h.

Workers used motorcycles to transport materials to assemble the components at locations along the median strip separating the two lanes of traffic.

With the bridge deck now complete, some locals are driving along to admire the longest river crossing bridge on the North-South Expressway before its official opening to traffic.

In other locations, engineers are rushing to complete the installation of railings, signs, equipment, and more.

Many people in Ha Tinh expressed their joy that the bridge is nearing completion, ensuring the planned schedule is met. Once the Hung Duc bridge and the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway are open to traffic, vehicles will be able to travel from the north to the National Highway 8 intersection in Duc Tho district (Ha Tinh) and vice versa.

The Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway project is being invested in under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. It spans nearly 50 km, passing through the territories of two provinces: Nghe An (44.4 km) and Ha Tinh (4.9 km). The total investment for the project is approximately VND 11,157 billion, comprising approximately VND 5,090 billion mobilized by investors and over VND 6,067 billion contributed by the State. The investor for the Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway project is a consortium of five enterprises. Construction began in May 2021. The Dien Chau - National Highway 46B section was officially opened on April 29th, while the remaining section from National Highway 46B to Bai Vot is expected to open at the end of June.
