The longest river bridge on the North Expressway

TPO - After 2 years of construction, the longest road bridge on the North-South expressway, spanning the Lam River (over 4 km long) connecting Nghe An and Ha Tinh, is expected to open to traffic at the end of June.

Hung Duc Bridge has a total length of nearly 4.1 km, spanning Lam River and La Giang River connecting Hung Nguyen District ( Nghe An ) and Duc Tho District (Ha Tinh). The bridge started construction in May 2022 with a total investment of more than 1,300 billion VND.

The Hung Duc Bridge construction project is part of the North-South Expressway project, Dien Chau - Bai Vot section. This project has the participation of 5 contractors, passing through many villages and fields.

At this point, Hung Duc Bridge has been basically completed. The construction unit is chiseling and drilling to make expansion joints.

Currently, 5 contractors of Hung Duc bridge project are concentrating machinery and equipment to complete the remaining items.

At the construction site, the construction unit is installing a barrier system and a median strip between the two lanes.

The bridge is designed in the divergence phase with a scale of two motor vehicle lanes with a bridge deck width of 17.5 m including 90 spans; including 76 super T spans and 14 cantilever spans, design speed 80 km/h.

Workers use motorbikes to transport materials to assemble at locations on the median strip between two lanes.

The bridge deck has been completed, some people drive to admire the longest river-crossing bridge on the North-South expressway before it is ready to open to traffic.

At some other locations, engineers are rushing to complete the installation of railings, signs, equipment...

Many Ha Tinh residents expressed their joy when the bridge is nearing completion, ensuring the set progress. When Hung Duc Bridge and Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway are open to traffic, vehicles can travel from the north to the National Highway 8 intersection in Duc Tho District (Ha Tinh) and vice versa.

The Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway Project is invested in the form of public-private partnership, with a length of nearly 50 km, passing through the territory of Nghe An (44.4 km) and Ha Tinh (4.9 km). The total investment capital of the project is about 11,157 billion VND, including capital mobilized by investors of about 5,090 billion VND and State capital participating in the implementation of about 6,067 billion VND. The investor of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway project is a consortium of 5 enterprises. The project started construction in May 2021, the Dien Chau - National Highway 46B section held a traffic opening ceremony on April 29, the remaining National Highway 46B - Bai Vot section is expected to open to traffic at the end of this June.
