As one of the peach-growing villages least affected by typhoon number 3, La Ca village planted tens of thousands of peach trees this year. The cold weather at the end of the year, but with frequent sunshine, is also favorable for the peach blossoms to bloom more beautifully; however, the price will be higher than in previous years.
In Hanoi , along with Phu Thuong, La Ca peach blossom village is famous second only to Nhat Tan. This year, with dozens of hectares of peach blossom trees spread throughout the village, La Ca confidently offers a wide variety of beautiful peach blossoms to the people.
Because it was less affected by flooding from typhoon number 3 (compared to other peach-growing villages), La Ca has managed to maintain a large number of peach trees. Near Tet, the weather is pleasant, with both cool and sunny periods, making the peach blossoms even more beautiful.
However, according to peach growers here, the price of peaches will increase compared to previous years due to a shortage of supply from other areas. This is understandable, as consumer demand shows no signs of decreasing.
Peach trees that have been planted for decades fetch high prices, starting from 40 million VND or more.
Smaller peach trees cost several million dong. "The large peach trees are rented by government offices; they rarely buy them," said one peach tree grower.
According to Ms. Lan, a resident of La Ca peach blossom village, many branches of the "Huyền" peach blossom tree, which used to cost only 500,000 VND in previous years, have doubled or even tripled in price this year.
Some gardeners in La Ca have set up stalls and tents to display peach branches and trees, introducing their products to consumers.
La Cả peach blossom village is located west of Hanoi, an area with many developing urban areas, which has resulted in a reduction in the size of some of the gardens.
Therefore, the villagers of La Cả have to rent land in other localities to grow peach trees. "Hoài Đức district is where we rent the most land for intensive cultivation," said a resident with 20 years of experience growing peach trees.
This year, La Ca peach blossom village is offering a full range of peach blossoms, from ancient trees to rare and branch-grown varieties.
Towards the end of 2024, many flower and peach blossom villages in Northern Vietnam, including Hanoi, were severely affected by Typhoon No. 3. Many areas were reduced in size, and production dropped significantly. La Ca was one of the few places that managed to maintain the quantity and quality of its peach blossoms.
