In the context of artificial intelligence (AI) becoming a crucial driving force for digital transformation and innovation globally, on the morning of May 28, 2026, the opening ceremony of the “Vietnamese Student HackAIthon 2026” competition and the Talkshow “AI4Student – ​​AI4Life” with the theme “Popularizing AI knowledge, current AI trends in Vietnam and around the world” took place at Hanoi University of Industry.

The program is organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Union in collaboration with the Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Bank ( Vietcombank ), with professional sponsorship from VNPT AI.

Attending the program, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association were Comrade Nguyen Minh Triet - Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association; Comrade Lam Tung - Member of the Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the Youth and Children Affairs Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, Standing Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association; and Comrade Nguyen Duc Nguyen - Deputy Head of the Youth and Children Affairs Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association.

Representing the partner organizations were Mr. Do Viet Hung - Member of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Bank (Vietcombank); Mr. Nguyen Huu Tung - Member of the Executive Committee of the Government Youth Union, Secretary of the Youth Union, Deputy Director of the Product Business Department of Vietcombank; Ms. Pham Thanh Tu - Deputy General Director of VNPT AI; Mr. Vu Trong Dao - Deputy Director of VNPT AI, along with representatives from the leadership of the partner organizations.

Comrade Nguyen Minh Triet - Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, and President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association - delivered a speech at the program.

Speaking at the program, Comrade Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized that artificial intelligence is becoming one of the decisive factors in the competitiveness of each nation and each young person in the digital age. In the context where science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation are identified as the driving forces of national development, equipping students with technological knowledge, skills, and adaptability is an urgent requirement to form a high-quality young workforce for the new development phase.

Possessing a rare major offered by only 1% of universities, this university aims to enroll 8,300 students in 2026.

According to Comrade Nguyen Minh Triet, the “Vietnamese Student HackAIthon 2026” competition is not only a technology playground for students but also an environment for the younger generation to access new technologies, cultivate digital thinking, a spirit of scientific research, and innovative abilities. Through the competition, students have the opportunity to gradually shift from a mindset of “using technology” to “creating technology,” from approaching AI to applying and mastering AI to solve practical problems of the community, businesses, and society. He also hopes that the program will contribute to strongly spreading the passion for science and technology among young people, creating more motivation for students to proactively learn, improve their digital skills, and be ready to adapt to the changes of the times.

Representing the participating organization, Mr. Do Viet Hung - Member of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Bank (Vietcombank) - stated that AI is creating powerful changes in the finance and banking sector, from enhancing customer experience and optimizing operations to developing next-generation financial services. Vietcombank hopes the competition will become a platform for students to foster innovative thinking and contribute creative ideas with high applicability in many areas of life.

The total prize money exceeds 200 million VND, along with numerous opportunities to connect with experts and technology companies.

The "Vietnamese Student HackAIthon 2026" competition has officially launched.

At the program, experts from VNPT AI and Vietcombank provided many practical perspectives on AI trends, AI applications in businesses, finance and banking, and digital life. Speakers also shared experiences on effectively using AI, developing problem-solving skills, and the necessary skills to adapt to the future job market.
